Dr David John Clymer

Excellent visit with Dr. Clymer. He thoughtfully assessed my situation based on his extensive experience, explained the underlying issue, and carefully explained the therapeutic and surgical options. Great manner and easy to talk to him. I have a lot of confidence in his capabilities.

Dr. Clymer and his nurse were very nice and friendly. Dr. Clymer was very direct about what he could and could not do for me. He recommended that because of my condition that I go to Pain Management and his nurse gave me the names and cards of Dr. Khadavi the Pain Management doctor.

Dr Clymers team was difficult to impossible to work with. First they scheduled an MRI for me then couldn’t find the results and asked me to pick them up and hand deliver them. I refused and they found them. They reported the results of the MRI showed I needed a full hip replacement but my insurance Blue Cross requires 6 weeks of PT prior to surgery. This would be a total of 18 PT sessions at $35 Copay each. I workout 3 days a week and am in excellent condition so I called. Blue Cross and they told me if PT is not beneficial it could be waived. Dr Clymers insurance specialist Nicole told me they wouldn’t accept a waiver from Blue Cross and I would need to do the PT regardless. I called Blue Cross back and they said I could see another Orthopedic Surgeon so beware

Was referred to KC Ortho Alliance for knee pain. Initial appointment setting process was fine, facility seemed nice. Front office staff and medical staff were all very nice. They had trouble finding my X-rays that were sent to them and tried to get me to take more while there. Found them after 30min. Dr. Clymer saw me for a total of 5min, didn't really listen to my complaints, just kinda twisted my knee and said that he needed me to get an MRI. Went and got the MRI and waited for a call back to schedule a follow up. Didn't receive a call for 2 weeks. I finally called and they booked me to come back in. Dr Clymer saw me for 5min again and said he didn't really see anything he could do but that I should schedule something with someone else in his office about PRP or STEM Cell injections. I asked why wasn't that mentioned before and why wasn't that consult part of this visit. He just kind shrugged it off. Also did not receive a call back to schedule that other visit. I made an appointment… to get a second opinion from somewhere else. Much better experience so far. Surgery is scheudled for next week already.

The doctor is on time. He is informative and patient. He answers your questions and makes you feel at ease. His staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

I’ve been seeing Dr Clymer since around 2002 when he performed shoulder resection surgery. His methods and manner fit me perfectly; candor, empathy, listening and doesn’t take unnecessary time. He, quite recently, did a total hip replacement and did a fine job. When it appeared that an an issue might exist with respect to a source of pain, he returned. to the office on Friday afternoon to see me. He also gave me a way to reach him over the weekend if need be. This is over the top patient care and as long as he practices I’ll be his patient.

I was referred to Dr Clymer and Apex orthopedic by my personal doctor after wasting a year with the VA after my last deployment ,when I returned home with severe debilitating back and left leg pain. I had given up after a year of painful treatments and physical therapy with mixed results. I was almost to file for disability when I went for a second opinion and got a civilian side contrast MRI of my left hip Dr Clymer took a quick look at my MRI and said you need a new hip. (Which is what I've been told by two other doctors) Less than 2 weeks later I woke up with a new hip and my back pain and left leg pain was gone for the first time in almost 2 years. He's been outstanding on the follow up and rehabilitation and recovery, monitoring me closely, answering my questions and taking the time to understand that I'm not rehabbing back to retirement and an occasional golf game but as a platoon sergeant and eventual first sergeant of combat engineers. Staff and support system and… medical professionals at Apex are top notch, I feel like a valued family member when I go in for my appointments or call and leave a question. There is no question that this man and his entire crack staff value their patients and love what they do. I was getting ready to be another VA statistic living out my days in pain and bored retirement.. Dr. Clymer has turned that around and while I'm still in recovery phase I'm getting stronger everyday and I'm telling you the pain is gone this man saved my life. Don't go in there expecting idle chit chat with this man, he is a busy professional that sees sometimes a dozen patientd a day I think. Be straight with him and have your questions in your hand or at the tip of your tongue Then you will not just be satisfied you will get the best care available in the Kansas City area. I could not be happier my family is thankful my platoon is grateful and I am absolutely grateful beyond the capacity to demonstrate it. Thank you sir and God bless you and yours..
