Dr. David Michael Collins, MD

To have to give even one star telling you all about Dr Colliins is something I wish I didn’t have to do. I also need to say that it makes me sad to have to write this. I’m a nurse, critical care for over forty years. I know my stuff but this doctor sure does not!!! As with the other reviews he has a distortedly high opinion of himself. My mother almost died by Dr Collins diagnosing a nose bleed when she was hemorrhaging internally. I was with my mom nine hours waiting at Silver Cross in New Lenox after she woke up in a pool of blood at eight forty-five pm. and was transported by ambulance to the ER. She was on blood thinners for her A-fib and a long, long time ago also suffered a bleeding ulcer. I told him this was the same thing that happened many years ago. I begged him to admit her so they could scope her and find the bleeding. He ran a bizarre cat-scan on her instead of other tests which would have found the bleeding. He even chastised me for asking for any tests to be… done as he just was one hundred percent certain she had a simple nose bleed he bellowed with a loud, condescending voice. Dr Colliins stood in front of us after I had been begging him to admit her for this acute drop in her blood count that was done in the ER and he arrogantly gave us a lecture about how he was a doctor for ‘over twenty years, saw over ten-thousand nose bleeds and she simply had a nosebleed’ and was sending her home!!! I told him I was a nurse over forty years and he was getting it wrong. He discharged my mom with a clip on her nose!!! We were discharged at five-thirty am. My mom was exhausted, looked awful and just wanted to rest. Within four hours of her returning home, she collapsed, lost half of her blood volume and was rushed back to silver cross with acute GI bleeding. She needed emergency surgery to stop the bleeding (which took literally another twenty hours to be completed due to the hospital being painfully slow and unable to schedule her as they are so overcrowded) at Silver Cross and the staff’s critical thinking on the floor she was admitted to was unbelievably poor. I had to contact administration after a terrifying and frustrating night of staying with her again (emptying bedpan after bedpan of GI bleeding as they were so short staffed they took easily thirty minutes plus to even answer a call light!!!)To get them to call the GI doctor to see her!!! My mom should have been in the Intensive Care Unit but there was no room they said. She ended up on a medical floor where the care was awful. Once she had the gastric clipping and blood transfusions she finally stabilized but this was a terrifying experience I would not wish on anyone! If Dr Colliins would have recognized her symptoms earlier this could have all been avoided. He absolutely did not want anyone telling him any perspective to help the patient. This man should not be in his position and I pray I never see him again or anyone I care about sees him!

This review is not about a recent visit but to inform the public that not only is Dr. David Collins a terrible health care provider as shown multiple reviews he is also a disgrace as a humane being. His arrogance towards his neighbors and complete lack of respect for others is definitely going to catch up with him someday. He parades around like he is some great guy, but don’t be fooled . He actually thought that he could be elected to his local school board , but the people were not fooled and saw him for who he really is and that was that.

The service provided by Silver Cross Hospital was incredibly disappointing. Despite waiting for 8 hours in the emergency room, Dr. Collins's behavior towards me was unprofessional. After making a light-hearted remark about the wait time, he raised his voice and accused me of disrespect. This continued even in front of my son and persisted as he walked through the emergency room. It's disheartening to find numerous negative reviews about him online despite his supposed 20 years of experience. It's a shame that some doctors exhibit such rudeness and arrogance instead of providing compassionate care.

Very rude and ignorant Dr. was in pain in the ER and he laughed. He’s twisted and is definitely in the wrong field..zero compassion.

Banned from appointment! Pick & chooses whom to get medical treatment! Some peoples KIDS!
