Dr. David Stephen Cooper, MD

Dr. David Cooper not only took the time to evaluate my medical condition, but he also took the time to explain to me what type of cancer I had, what it meant in terms of my prognosis, and gave me all the options available with the risks involved. I will forever be grateful for his insight and expertise. I would highly recommend any individual needing an endocrinologist or Internist, to Dr. Cooper at John Hopkins Medical!

Exceptionally Competent, Compassionate and Responsive Physician

I have been a patient of Dr. Cooper's for nearly a decade due to papillary cancer. He is EXTREMELY responsive to any and questions I may have via the MyChart messaging system and in person at his office. He clearly explains my results and courses of action. He is known for being one of the VERY BEST in his field and I concur - he has never guided me down anything but the right path of medical care. I live in Los Angeles and fly to see Dr. Cooper for my visits. He is worth the trip!

My appointment was not scheduled for the day I visited Dr. Cooper but in spite of that he accommodated me even past his work hours. He listened to my medical issues and explained very well the treatment I will need. Gave me options of treatment and what to expect from it. I highly recommend Dr. Cooper.

Dr. Cooper literally made me cry. I still remember and I never went back. His follow up after my cancer treatment was inadequate, and completely missed signs of depression. If he had recommended a mental health specialist to follow up with me, so many things would have turned out different. Instead he said - your thyroid levels are fine. There is nothing wrong with you, despite the fact that I clearly did not feel fine.

I have finally found a site with reviews that reflect the experience I had with this so-called doctor. Why did I go back for more than one visit? I unfortunately gave him the benefit of the doubt, being a Johns Hopkins doctor which brings with it...I was a masochist, but no more... He may have great credentials and be a brilliant doctor, but what use is this if he berates, dismisses, and is not a nice person. It doesn't take much effort.

I do not care to rate dr. Cooper he was so rude and unprofessional. I myself as a registered nurse of 35 years working with doctors and practitioners I've never been made to feel so worthless. Dr. Cooper showed his behavior in front of the doctor working with him. he would not even listen to the other doctors fingings of her exam. Hopkins takes pride in being the best of the best. An Institution where we practice patient friendly. why is he still on staff. Read his reviews. I was distastefully dismissed and told to go back to my other doctor. Sadly enough I had to hit 1 star in order for this to be submitted

Was expecting the patient/doctor experience to match the caliber of his credentials. Unfortunately, bad experience. This was first (and last) visit. No visible attempt on his part to connect with me, or for that matter to even really respect my comments and/or answers to his questions. Just short sarcastic feedback. He may know the" science" of medicine, but doesn't display the "caring / intangible variable" aspect of medicine. Bottom Line: Not the doctor for my care.

I would not recommend Dr. David Cooper as an Endo. He showed little bedside manner and sensitivity to me. First off, he didn't contact me regarding my blood work, I was told it "fell through the cracks." The blood work showed that my medication needed to be changed. Luckily, I called him 6 week after the labs to get the proper adjustment. Secondly, I also send Dr. Cooper the message below: Dr. Cooper, I am glad to hear that my TSH is at a desirable level. Unfortunately, my symptoms have not changed. I'm feeling sluggish and fatigued every day. Weight gain, body aches and sensitivity to cold show no improvement. Is there anything I can do to combat these Hashimoto's symptoms? Any chance being on the RX longer may improve how I feel? His response was "Unfortunately, I don't have any other ideas. Your symptoms are not due to Hashimoto's thyroiditis! If you don't think that you feel any differently on the medication, you might as well just stop it." Just rude. I had to do… some self education on my own. If Dr. Cooper was well-versed in Hashimoto's at all, he should've at least recommended a change in diet as removing gluten has shown great relief in Hashi's symptoms.

I think Dr Cooper is probably a brillant guy but not much with patient care. He seems to get annoyed quickly. I have left there my last 2 appts feeling so frustrated because I feel like he doesn't want to hear what you have to say its only about what he wants to tell you!
