Dr David Curtis, MD

Today is 3 weeks from when my dad met Dr Curtis in the ER. We don't know how many times he spoke with dad, but he called my mom twice that night. Once to tell her he couldn't do surgery- because "if he was lucky enough to survive, he'd be stuck on a respirator in a nursing home with us deciding when to pull the plug" Then 30 min later when he said to her, "what don't you understand, HE IS NEVER coming home". My dad did come home 2 days later. Despite 10+calls over the 2 days, Dr Curtis never returned our calls and refused requests to upload dads labs to the portal.(Even when we asked patient advocate to intervene). He told the hospice team there was no hope. Due to covid, visiting restricted. Dr Curtis actually put on dads discharge he should followup in 2wks when he knew he wouldn't make it that long. Tonight, I once again held my mother as she cried and prayed Curtis had more compassion for my father than he did for her when he told Dad he was dying. Dr Curtis has no soul or spine.

Takes a very thorough history and does a complete physical exam. Listens carefully and answers questions with expertise and care. Has an excellent team assisting him (RN and PA). This team is readily accessible by phone to address any concerns before and after surgery. The entire staff is considerate, professional and friendly. Overall a great doctor and team.

Expertise excellent.....bedside manner , cruel ,hortible response......life is already cruel enough with cancer, maybe a little compassion for me and my family. Before surgery great,..after care,seemed like I was bothering you and wasting your time.

This has no reflection of Dr Curtis work, expierence etc. we had an appointment called in before the appointment time to advise we were stuck in traffic. The receptionist very nice, I might add, asked if we would hold on and she would check if dr Curtis could still see me. She returned to say we should be fine to still come in . It was hard to estimate how long. Our appointment was at 330 we arrived at 4. The nurse, not the receptionist said he can't see you it's to late. The receptionist said to the nurse I told you he was running late. The nurse said not that late. We had driven 1 1:2 hours. They could not reschedule until February 5th at this location. Not much empathy for their clients. I wonder if Dr Curtis even realized this happened. Very poor.

Dr. Curtis is incredible. Makes you feel like you are the only patient he has.

I should have posted this a while ago, this Doctor saved my daughters life. She had emergency surgery at Midstate Medical Center and was sent to Hartford Hospital to Dr.Curtis's care for more surgery. He did a phenomenal surgery and she had a great outcome thanks to his expertise. I will forever be grateful for his gifted hands, in fact I had to kiss them ,for without his hands and his talent and knowledge things would probably have been different. Thank you Dr. Curtis, you are a true blessing and we appreciated everything you did. Great Doctor, I highly recommend him.

Found Dr Curtis to be caring,, thorough in explaining what would take place in surgery,and the fact that he likes a challenge made me feel safe in his hands.Good bedside manner and cute to boot!!

Great surgeon

Dr. Curtis was very thorough in his explanations and very clear. He let me know the risks and the ceverity of the risks involved. He didn't sugarcoat but also didn't try to scare me. He emphasized the points of after care that were most important such that I could recite them back to him. I felt like I was in good hands. Gall bladder and hernia surgery.
