Dr. David Loyd Doering, MD

In our opinion this doctor has long ago lost his desire to be a real leader in oncological surgery. He leaves most all follow ups with nurse practioners. N.p's. Have no place in an oncology practice they lack the knowledge and education for this critical care division of health care. When a patient becomes terminal he becomes icy and arrogant towards the family and patient. He lacks humanity, and the desire to truly heal – this doctor takes the easy way out for every procedure…would you want to have a doctor who cuts corners in a disease as serious as cancer?

Arrogant doesn't care about your opinion. Would never see him again. Needs to retire.

My experience with Dr. Doering started off very nice. He spent adequate time with her listening and answering questions. He appeared to be very compassionate until my mother expressed uncertainty about surgery. At that time, my mother was recently diagnosed with cancer and was confused and scared. He followed up with her by phone within a week but my mother still needed more time (and wanted to do some research). He did call her again but my mother felt very pressured by him to have surgery. After my mom did her research, she had additional questions and was leaning toward surgery. She then received a letter notifying her that Dr. Doering is terminating patient/doctor relationship. At this time, I called the office and explained that my mother has some questions (regarding surgery). Dr. Doering refused to care for my mother. I can not understand how a doctor can refuse to care for a patient because they did not have surgery within the doctors time frame. He mentioned other treatments… like chemo and hormone therapy but never talked about them in detail. He only spoke about surgery during our visit (and appeared to get upset when my mother did not agree on it at that time. This experience made my mother and me feel like he was more concerned about the surgery (since he is the surgeon) then truly caring for my mothers health.

Awful bedside manner. Very arrogant, not a great experience. Excellent nurse practioner
