Dr. David L Duke, MD

I visited Dr Duke as a new patient last week after my doctor retired. It was a very direct and personal care experience. Dr Duke sees each patient personally and does not use what I call 'half-a-doc' helpers to do his work. I spent more time with him on my first visit than I have with my previous doctor in five years. He returns phone calls, makes house calls, and sees his patients in the hospital/ER/nursing home. He seems very thorough, and does not mince words. He does get behind paying attention to unexpected situations, but doesn't rush the next person. I've known Dr Duke for 30 years as he took care of my mother in a nursing home and then hospice. My wife has used him for years. He is a caring fellow with a sense of humor and humility. I read some of the other comments here and we have never seen any untoward behaviors. As for how he treats his 'staff', he has a very strong and competent woman, Janet, that has run his office, I think, from day one. There is no other 'staff'! They… treat each other with friendly respect.

This doctor is is very rude to female patients. He is very demeaning and even mean. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. He is NOT a good diagnostician, and will never admit when he does make a mistake. If you are "a problem patient" (direct quote), he will belittle you. The only person he thinks highly of is himself. He doesn't even try to hide his disdain for his patients. RUDE and MEAN! Ask around before you go to him! So many of his patients have left because of his demeanor. I feel sorry for his staff because they have to deal with him daily. He will brag to his patients that he was top of his class. THAT does not make someone a competent, caring doctor. Please believe this 50 something person who has been to several doctors in Nacogdoches over the years: DON'T waste your time with this egotistical, rude doctor when there are others more competent and compassionate who are available.

Really listened to me and did a complete exam. Got the right diagnosis the first time after other doctors just seemed to be guessing.

This doctor may be nice to his patients, but he is beyond rude to staff and others within the healthcare system. BEYOND RUDE!

Dr. Duke is very thorough. Great doc. He isn't a doctor to run you in and out like a heard of cattle. Not many doctors like that around anymore. He is very intelligent man. We highly recommend Dr. Duke. Just remember: He will take all the time in the world for you so be prepared for him to give the same courtesy to his other patients.
