Dr. David Keith Edelberg, MD

Prescribed medication before even seeing my lab results. I regret that he was my first doctor, I might have had a chance to be off medication that now I have to take for life. And, to charge for the portal to be able to read lab results?! Insulting!!!!

Wish I could say I have had good results in the five years I've been with this doctor, but he'll bring up a drug for consideration and quickly turn back to his typing without even hearing a response. He constantly reverses himself and when I try to ascertain what's going on he says we had a long discussion. Other doctors are always concerned when they see the list of meds, yet Dr. Edelberg is quite satisfied. I guess it's a way of job security: keep patients on ever-increasing drugs so they have no alternative but to keep coming back!

I had been seeing this doc when he decided to go over to electronic records. When this happened, a plan was devised that you had to pay $50/yr to access your medical records. I don't have this expense at any other medical offices with web access, and it seems absurd. On top of that, if he prescribes you a medicine which requires a paper script for refills, he charges you $15 to mail it out to you. He would also tell you to check back with him by email, and then charge you for the email consult. I don't know about this practice. I understand the office is located in a very well-to-do part of Chicago, but not all of his clients are rich. I already have enough medical bills and don't need extra fees that just seem like nonsense to me.

I was very misled by this doctor as at first he comes off as being very knowledgeable and caring and on top of alternative medicine/healing. However after a few visits he tried to push many medications on me and for something that I soon after was properly diagnosed by another doctor as not having at all. So without properly diagnosing me, Dr. Edelberg pushed medication with severe side affects on me. His office staff was also very rude and when I was very ill they would not take a message over the phone from me for the doctor and kept telling me rudely that the only way I could let the doctor know of my being very sick was to send an email (even though I kept telling her that I was having problems with my email provider at the time which prevented me from sending or receiving emails). That was when I had enough and never went back. I also felt that he was a bit money hungry and billed me like no other doctor has before. Thank god there are many good doctors now days who practice… alternative therapies along with traditional medicine. I recommend that anyone reading this would now know better to stay away from Dr. Edelberg!
