Dr. David Jack Elbaum, MD

I only wish I had read the reviews on this guy before I went. I was referred to him by my doctor. I can’t even begin to explain the amount of stress him and his staff put me through. I have had everything go wrong from my paperwork filled out improperly to my prescription not being valid and to top it all off I receive multiple bills for the same visit I already paid for. They are reluctant to fix issues and all around unprofessional. I cannot stress this enough DON’T GO HERE.

My time at Dr. Elbaum's office was so pleasant. The wait was not long had two visits..The staff and dr.elbaum were very kind. He came in shook my hand we talked about my nodules on hand ,he did biopsy not painful,gave me cream script to put on . He knew what it was,spot on no cancer.Then told and showed him some brown spots on arms,he walked out came in and burned off with little pain ,also removed some tags I had was thrilled of his kindness and knowledge .He said look for other tags spots for next visit take off, he did..was so pleased with him and staff.Very nice man.. Thank you Dr.Elbaum!! I was referred out to him by my primary glad she sent me there..will be back if need

This doctor sent us a secondary bill months after we had paid the first one for what he claims was a 3rd party consultation that we never authorized or received any proof of. His work was sloppy and his bedside manner, poor. We will not only never use him again. We will also be reporting his rather creative billing practices.

Waited for a while , but took my mole in my fingers and its gone in few minutes.

After a 45 minute wait in the waiting room I was greeted by a very nice nurse and taken into a room where I was asked to strip down to bra and panties. I waited in the room for an additional 45 minutes to be seen. I was visiting to be checked for cancerous moles. When Dr. Elbaum finally arrived he spent less than a minute checking the moles on my body from a good 2-3 ft distance. After deciding everything looked great he handed me a pamphlet on skin cancer and proceeded to send me on my way without any offer on asking if I had any concerns or questions. It was quite mind blowing a specialist did not put any time into making sure everything was ok. I mean we do pay more to specifically go to a specialist, I definitely did not receive my moneys worth by this man. I feel like my own family member does a more thorough job checking me than he did. I will never go back there and highly suggest finding a different Dermatologist to check you out if you have any concerns.

I recently went to doctor to have some skin tags removed, the wait time in the office was unbearably long over an hour past my scheduled appointment time, the office is cramped and staff very rude. Once in the exam room it was another 40 minutes before seeing the doctor,upon entering the room I was ask to remove my shirt at which time the doctor looked at my skin condition and said "you are a sinner" I said excuse me and he repeated "you are a sinner" and you sin a lot, that's why you have these skin tags. Insulted I stayed and he continued to remove the skin tags, which was very painful at which time I said, can you numb the area and the doctor replied the shots are going to hurt worse I,m almost done. I will not or do not recommend this to anyone.

Oh my, the wait was over an hour, and then another 20 minutes in the room. This is much too long. Doctor was obviously very knowledegable and was a nice man. Unfortunately with my insurance I only have one other choice and I guess I'm sticking with Elbaum. Be prepared to wait.

Last visit I waited an hour in the small, cramped, and packed waiting room before being called back to an office and waited another 30 minutes. My visit was less than 3 minutes and I was sent on my way with a recheck scheduled. Today, I'm at my appointment and still waiting almost an hour and a half later. The receptionists response to my inquiry of when I would be seen...."He's busy and there aren't many dermatologists in Bakersfield. You can always reschedule". I'm in a city of nearly 400,000 people. I know there's a greater choice and I plan on requesting an alternate referral. I value my time and do not need a snarky, sarcastic dimwit to be rude!
