Dr. Friar is awesome. He let me know I'm not alone and NOT going crazy. He really listens respectfully, and his well-placed questions have allowed me to discover that I already had the answers inside of me just like he said. He doesn't say a lot, but what he does say is powerful and tempered by a deep wisdom. He treats all his patients like real human beings, and he treats the things I tell him like a sacred trust. He has just let me be who I am without trying to throw a label on me. More than that, he has helped me discover who I really am and the power I have to survive -- and even thrive. He has helped me truly heal, sometimes in ways that I don't even suspect until after I've already dealt with a tough situation. When life throws me rough patch I carry his words with me as a guide, and I take comfort in reminding myself that he believes in me, even if sometimes I don't. Even that is getting better, though, and when I try to thank him he tells me it's I who have done all the really… hard work! There are doctors who know lots of "stuff," but rarely, and far above those, there are healers. Dr. Friar is a true healer.
