Dr. David Augustin Garcia, MD

Dr Garcia has been our gastroenterologist for several years. He is one of the best doctors we have ever encountered. He has a wonderful bedside manner, is kind, and takes his time with patients. Both my husband and I appreciate how he explains everything to us and is always happy to answer our questions; and does it in a way that is easy to understand. He is also brilliant and truly cares about his patients. We feel extremely fortunate to have found him.

First time I tried to see Dr. Garcia. I waited in waiting room for 1.5 hrs. Finally went to clerk and asked how much longer. She apologized and said he is running behind and you are 5th in line to be seen. OK. Cancelled that appt. 2nd attempt was made today. I asked for the first appt as to avoid these delays. I show up at 845 for a 9A appt. At 945 I ask lady, is Dr. even here? No surprise No he was not. Dr. has no respect or regards for patients time. Left office told them I would find another Dr.

I was a patient with Dr. Garcia for at about 5 1/2 years and for the first couple of years things where good . Then he hired an new front office staff and everything changed from then on. I went in once for an appointment and they said I wasn't scheduled until the next day which was wrong because for the last 5 years I always scheduled my appointments on the same day of the week. Then also I have a chronic disease and I would call for my prescription when I was out to be refilled and they sometimes took almost three weeks to call it in and I was calling every other day. I was also being charged for who knows what I asked for documents to show what the charges were for and nothing was ever given to me even after I call the billing they still didn't send me anything. I recently went to get a second opinion on the disease I have and then I went back for my appointment to Dr. Garcia and the front office told me that he will not see me since I went to see another doctor because they had to… send the information over the the other doctor. What the heck is that do we not have the right to see another doctor if we want a second opinion. All of these issues I did speak with Dr. Garcia about and nothing was ever done about any of this. I work in the Medical Field and I would never treat my patients this way. If you are even considering going to this office I would just look away because this is the worst experience I have ever been through.

Two different times the doctor hadn't gotten to the office yet so they wanted to reschedule after I had taken work off. One of the office staff acts like you are inconveniencing her when you go there. The office staff does not know what is going on, calls are not returned. I have had a terrible time with the billing office. They made me pay a co-pay even though the secondary insurance pays it. They will not reimburse me. They also billed me for more than the insurance allows. Fighting that battle for over a week now, can't get "supervisor" to call back. Doctor may be okay, but with staff and billing like that, find someone else.

All I have to say is the office staff really needs to get it together.

There is a communication issue in this office and for this reason I would highly recommend not going to this doctor. I specifically expressed concern for not wanting the procedure if my insurance would not cover it. I was told it was covered, to later receive a large bill. The office staff told me, "Your the patient and it is your responsibility." They did not offer to work with me or show any compassion. The day of my surgery, a news cast came up to me and told me Dr. Garcia had said it was okay to film my procedure. They assumed I knew. I had no idea, but agreed to do the story. Overall, they don't communicate with their patients. A doctor with integrity would have waived the cost because their staff told me the procedure was covered. Especially, when I agreed to help them by telling their story through the news without any preparation. The last thing you want to do in a night gown is tell a story to the world. After the office staff told me it was my responsibility, they hung up on… me. Horrible etiquette. My suggestion is to go to a doctor office, in which you can trust the staff's ability to check your coverage and fix problems with positive solutions that favor the patient when errors are made.
