This wonderful Doctor saved my life is he still around?

Terrible doctor. Prescribed Xanax indefinitely without mentioning that it was addictive, brain damaging and involved an incredibly difficult withdrawal. He should have his medical license revoked.

I was sent to Dr. Geffner to manage my thyroid. He did a blood test said my thyroid levels were to high I was at the time on 132 Mg and he cut me down to 65MG; you are never supposed drop in half in dose. It's supposed to be gradual and your should be blood tested six weeks after to make sure that dose is working for you. I was never called back for blood tests, there was no contact at all. I message him to tell him my hair and eyebrows were thinning, he just said I'm on the right dose. Never heard from him again. And he was wrong I was on too low a dose. Completely irresponsible.

I've been very impressed with my care under my new endocrinologist Dr. David Geffner at UCLA Gonda Goldschmeid Diabetes Center. He was informative and patient with my many questions, communicated issues well and had a very pleasant demeanor. I always felt he had my full care in mind. Dr Geffner returned my calls and kept me informed of my next steps. The testing he ordered helped clarify remaining concerns and his recommendations led to an excellent outcome. I was also very pleased with his referral to Dr. David K Lu in Radiology for my targeted Ethanol Ablation nodule treatment. Scheduling went smoothly and everyone seemed to take extra steps to assist me, his staff followed up quickly. I was lucky to have a non-surgical option available to me, thanks to Dr Geffner and Dr Lu, and since the nodule is now gone, I know Dr Geffner directed me to the best option for my case. I received the highest quality care, most advanced expertise and skill, with a sophisticated imaging facility at… UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital and an excellent support team. I highly recommend Dr Geffner.

I enjoyed my time spent in Dr Geffner's office. He took the time to discuss with me what was going on and seemed to agree that doctors over prescribe medicine. The problem is, he did not follow up with me on my test results in a timely manner. My test results had been in for 4 days and I called for 3 days, leaving 7 messages with staff, expressing urgency for him to call me. I am still waiting on those results, meanwhile feeling worse and worse. Do not go to this doctor if you wish to know what is wrong with you.

Waited well over an hour - didn't bother me then because I thought 'he's highly rated', etc. I brought in some recent tests, discussed my concerns. He ordered one test - THAT WAS IN MEDICAL RECORDS (taken 2 weeks earlier). He told me to go OFF thyroid medication and come back in 2 months. DIDN'T order ANY thyroid tests. Considering the symptoms I brought in - essentially he was saying "wait here in the ER while I order a test you already took ... see you in 2 months".No wonder thyroid stuff is so hard to deal with ... the 'experts' don't even read the medical charts.

He is very kind and a good listener. However, not quite sure about how accurate his diagnosis is. I don't feel he ran enough tests, nor did he provide any follow up plan. I went to UCLA because of there reputation, but I didn't feel that there is enough care. maybe just to many patients.

My previous Dr. left and I was referred to see Geffner instead. My appointment was at 10:30am. At 11am I was still waiting, and asked nurse about wait. She then told the Dr. that I had to leave and couldn't wait any longer. He finally entered the room at 11:08. Almost 40 minutes. Not sure if he was irritated with me that I was complaining about the wait, but he was very rude to me and told me that he didn't agree with a diagnosis that was given to me by 4 other doctors and told me to go off my medication. I'm currently looking for another Dr. and another opinion. He totally wasted my time. Bad bedside manner.

Dr Geffner,you are one of the best doctors I have ever had in my life.

When I was 16 in 1991, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I was fortunate to have Dr. Geffner as a doctor. He showed kindess and compassion that I never recieved from another doctor. I recieved prompt treatment and follow up.
