Meet Dr. Gilmore
David S. Gilmore, DDS, MSD
Dr. Gilmore has been in the specialty practice of orthodontics since 2001. He is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Education
Dr. Gilmore attended the United States Naval Academy and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering with Honors and was inducted as a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Engineering Honor Society. He received his commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. He then attended the University of Michigan where he earned his first Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering. He attained licensure as a …Professional Engineer before changing careers to pursue his passion of dentistry. He attended the University of the Pacific, where he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, graduating with High Honors as a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Gilmore returned to the University of the Pacific as a resident in Orthodontics, where he earned a second Master of Science degree in Dentistry and was recipient of the Fred West Leadership Award. After over 26 years of service as a Surface Warfare Officer, dentist, and orthodontist, Dr. Gilmore retired from the U.S. Navy in 2011.
Continuing Education
Dr. Gilmore is committed to continuing education to keep up with the latest advances in order to offer the best possible orthodontic care to his patients. He attends regular training meetings and courses to learn the most current technologies and techniques. He also teaches post-doctorate courses in orthodontics in an accredited AEGD program to general dentists.

At Home and In the Community
Dr. Gilmore was born in Canton, Ohio, and served in the Navy since 1981. He lives in Scripps Ranch with his wife of 22 years, Teryn. They have a daughter, Sarah who attends Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, and a son, Sawyer who is a Senior in high school. When not in the office, Dr. Gilmore enjoys spending much of his time outdoors with his family, especially skiing, snowboarding, camping and hiking. He also regularly participates fitness activities like swimming, biking and running.
Dr. Gilmore feels that it is important to be involved in the community where he lives and practices. He is involved in his church and with Meals on Wheels, and sponsors Little League and soccer teams. He also volunteered his services as a member of a reconstructive surgery team for children and adults with cleft lips and palates on a mission trip to China.
