Dr. David Lawrence Gottesman, MD

I almost died from preparing for a colonoscopy, which never took place, but this doctor never called to see how I was. Apparently the loss of the fee was the only thing that mattered.

I saw Dr. Gottesman several times for severe “IBS” symptoms that was affecting every area of my life, including the strong possibility of losing my job. Each visit we met in his office to discuss my symptoms. That’s it. Not once did he examine me or order any scoping tests. He prescribed different meds to treat my symptoms, (which haven’t resolved), but never attempted to look at what was causing them. Our last communication consisted of him telling me to find another Gastroenterologist because my problem was too “complicated”.

The staff and nurses all were excellent. BUT, Dr. Gottesman's bedside manner has a lot to be desired. At the intial consultation, he seemed very impatient and cut me off in the middle of asking a question. My procedure results were given by his secretary w/no explanation, answer to questions, or follow-up treatment. Very unprofessional. I felt like I had inconvenienced him.

PAT IS NOT VERY HELPFUL IN GETTING AN ANSWER TO HELP ME WITH MEDICARE COVERAGE. SHE SAID SHE WOULD GET BACK WITH ME. IT HAS BEEN 2 WEEKS AND STILL NO ANSWER. I THINK DOCTOR GOTTESMAN OFFICE DOES NOT CAR ABOUT SENIOR CITIZENS.

David Gottesman is genuine...he is real/ down to earth......he is thorough, and will contact you after a procedure. He has an easy way about him and will make you feel comfortable.

It was just over 2 weeks from having a colonoscopy and upper GI completed with Dr. Gottesmand, when I was rushed into emergency surgery for a large intestinal blockage. That day I had 18 inches of my large and small intestines removed. The surgeon stated that my stomach portion that is not used (I am bariatric patient) was pushed forward and my intestines were flipped and twisted. After, Dr. Gottesman performed the procedures he spent about 20 seconds with me saying that everything was fine and I didnâ??t even have one polyp. He also stated I donâ??t know why you are anemic. Either the doctor was not thorough in his examination or he created the problem that had to be fixed with emergency surgery. I have complained to the Cleveland Clinic Obudsman office and also to Dr. Gottesman and his staff. I would have a great lawsuit if I had died from his negligence, but since I livedâ?¦ I will have to settle for letting others know what happened to me.

Absolutely outstanding. I was diagnosed with Crohn's, and Dr. G provided individualized, thoughtful, conservative care. It wasn't an immediate run for a prescription, but instead he provided quality of life improvements and explained the condition in a one on one setting.
