Dr. David A Gutman, MD

I saw Dr. Gutman for a period of about 9 months from 2018-2019. On the positive side, psychotherapy with him was very helpful in that he gently pushed you to think differently about your life and change certain maladaptive behaviors. He generally listens to his patients when it comes to medication. Unfortunately, all of the positive aspects of Dr. Gutman are clouded over by how he handles the payment aspect of his practice. For ease of filing out-of-network claims, I preferred to let a few sessions compile, then do one big payment and insurance claim. The first time I did this, I paid Dr. Gutman in full. The second time, I also paid him in full. Before I paid the second time, Dr. Gutman had the audacity to bring up the fact that I hadn't paid him AS A PART OF MY PSYCHOTHERAPY. He insinuated that I was disrespecting him and playing games with him and that I needed to work on a few different things based on this payment situation with him. It was completely inappropriate & inaccurate.
