Dr. David Heon, MD

Dr. Heon has treated my Mom through office visits and a surgery. He is one of the best Drs. I have ever known. Compassionate and thourgh.I would definitely go to him myself if needed

Senior friend went for gallbladder attack on Saturday. Gallbadder, Liver and pancreas were inflamed. Dr. Heon only checked in as she was being taken to MRI. She did not see him again. Staff was under impression surgery would be next morning. She was given no food or drink. She was on iv fluid and medication to reduce inflammation. Dr. Heon came in saying he had spoken to family. Everyone denied speaking to him. He became arrogant and said he spoke to elderly patient as if she would not remember. Nurse said he had Not notated visit. She then contacted hospital advocate and director spoke to patient. This apparently not an isolated incident. Hospital arranged different doctor familer with patient and family. Surgery was done next day. None of us feel Dr. Heon followed hospital procedure in patient care.

Father in law was assigned to Dr. Heon for gallbladder removal. Our family did not feel as though Heon looked at his case as needed. His gallbladder was infected and did not have gallstones. Dr Heon put his surgery off due to a schedule conflict for a conference. In two weeks he lost almost 20 pounds not being able to eat due to the pain. Instead of Heon referring him to another surgeon, He had him wait until he got back to do his surgery. It was a miracle he did not become septic in my opinion.

On my 18th birthday I had to have an emergency appendectomy. Through out my entire Experience (I was only there about 36 hours and only because I requested to stay the night) Dr.Heon and his nurses had stellar bedside manner. I had to come in a few days after my surgery so he could make sure I was healing properly. He was totally professional and you can tell he takes pride in his work with out being Arrogant like some doctors I’ve met. He’s talented and if I ever find myself in a position needing surgery again, hopefully I can arrange it with Dr.Heon!

Lack of follow up delayed long Wait time with no explanation. Very poor after care in recovery room.failed to call results. I had to call office 3 days till someone could call me back.Ridiculous binstruction's

I am still waiting for the follow-up. today is 26 days post surgery and I'm still waiting to for the pain level to allow me to get dressed and go to Shawnee and see dr. heon for that follow-up. three different doctors led me to believe the pain wouldn't be that bad but if yours is you are not alone or weird or anything bad-I'm happy for those people who "went back to work the following day" took 1 pain reliever and then planted their garden and gave birth in the field. I am not that person and I cannot believe the pain is still this bad after 26 days. I haven't been able to take a deep breath yet and had to go to ER a week ago tomorrow because I couldn't keep a pain reliever down I was vomiting so much and often. this is just my experience. dr heon I believe did a good job. someone should tell patients that if they're in the condition I am in right now they don't necessarily have an infection or abscess or they aren't necessarily dying right this second. having a lot of pain can be… very scary for some people and as a long as I'm expecting the possibility I won't panic-like labor for the first time-one doesn't know what to expect in regard to parts of a surgery.

About ten years ago Dr. Heon removed my gallbladder and repaired a hernia for me.I was new to the area and a bit nervious not knowing of him. He was wonderful and I'm so happy I chose him for the surgeries.
