Dr. David Allen Herzog, MD

Dr. Herzog failed to give proper tests or referrals to specialists. I was under his primary care for 10 years with a progressive anti-inflammatory disease for which he ignored and/or misread symptoms. He gave me a clean bill of health literally 2 weeks prior to being diagnosed by an unrelated third party who saw me for the first time. Terrible

Dr. Herzog was my primary care physician for over 10 years, during all of which I complained of back pain. Approximately 10 years later (at age 40) I was diagnosed (by a third party) with Ankylosing Spondylitis, which could have been spotted earlier based on symptoms, or with more regular Xray/MRI and/or Rheumatologist referral.

Dr. Herzog has been my doctor for the past 18 years. I always have a positive experience with him and his staff whenever I visit. Annual physical exams are not rushed, takes about a full hour. He takes the time to address any concerns I might have. He is very bright and informed and I always learn something when I visit.

I would not recommend this doctor or the practice he works for (WestMed). He was not helpful at all when I addressed concerns to him. The final straw: he did not wash his hands before or after giving me a physical, which is just vile.

I had been looking for a new doctor for over a year since mine (who had been my primary care physician for 18 years) retired. i am a nervous patient and it is not easy for me to feel comfortable with someone new. Dr. Herzog put me at ease immediately, was a great listener and asked many questions. He gave a thorough exam and was clearly interested in working with me to maximize my health and well being. I am very happy to have found him!

Nice guy and seems to be very smart, but he does not seem to be anything more than an average doctor. He did not answer all my questions accordingly, seemed pretty laid back for a doctor. I will be finding a new doctor.

Very bright, intellectually competent, and knowledgeable; moderately thorough; a bit condescending. Seemed to minimize my concerns which, although mild and insignificant to him after seeing thousands of patients, were new to me. If I cared enough to mention them, he ought to care (and know) enough to respond differently. A good rule of thumb when working in any service profession is to treat each patient as if he were your first. Dr. H seemed more interested in displaying his knowledge. I'm sure he's a brilliant physician, but I don't think I'll go back.
