I had been suffering from symptoms of head lice for THREE MONTHS! I saw an urgent care doctor, and I asked my primary provider to check me for lice. Neither one saw any symptoms. I had been vigorously raking my scalp to remove all of the nasty deposits the insects had left behind. It continued with no resolution. I had eggs, empty egg casings, and insect excrement falling off of my scalp every time I raked my fingers through it. Early on I saw two nits by my forehead. I could literally feel the insects walking on my scalp. I contacted their office and there was a month long wait to see the doctors. I opted to see Holly the Nurse Practitioner in order to secure the diagnosis and finally have a resolution to my unbearable condition. I explained my unrelenting symptoms to her. I described IN DETAIL what had been falling off of my head. I even brought samples of what had been coming off of my scalp. She didn't look at it, and she disregarded every symptom I described for her in detail. She… was very kind to me and did a very cursory exam of my head and diagnosed me with dandruff as the other two doctors did. She also diagnosed my eczema and gave me three prescriptions for my problems. I appreciate the detail but she did not perform a detailed assessment of my scalp. Up until this point I had not seen any adult lice on my head only the other evidence. I left their office knowing that I was right about the lice and I was very disappointed she did not give me any treatment for them. That same night that I saw Holly I was brushing my teeth and while bent over this large insect fell off of my head and into my sink! I stuck it to some tissue so I could get a good look at it. I was horrified!!!!! That was a Friday night so first thing the next Monday morning I called their office and asked if I could briefly speak to Holly about my find. I was screened thoroughly when I called and was asked what I was calling about and I told the very uncaring person who answered my call that I was calling about a new symptom. I told her of my findings and I didn't receive concern from her. I never got a call back from Holly. Shortly thereafter I received a phone call from someone named Theresa who provided me with no assistance. She started reciting how to use the medications she had prescribed to me! I told her I had an insect fall off of my head. She didn't care either! Then she invited me to come in to the office when I already had. I had a cast on my arm and most of my hand and arm and could not drive myself. My husband had to take time off from work the first time to bring me in. I told her to skip it and that's why I went in the first time. I bought some hair clippers and my husband gave me a buzz cut at home. END OF PROBLEM. SYMPTOMS GONE. Thanks Coast Dermatology!
