David Huckins, MD

Im an RN. I was a patient and a former coworker of Dr. Huckins. He is amazing. The hospital nursing staff knew he was super smart and was the best MD in the ED. He also has a unsurpassed bedside manner. He is kind and respects the patients, never speaking down to them. A pleasure to work with and to be taken care of as his patient.

I can’t say enough about this brilliant physician. Not only was he able to accurately diagnose my acute chest pain, he gave me advice on my arthritis when I asked and provided an excellent referral. He also tried to assist me with my psychiatric care, and contacted many providers in the area until he could make me an arrangements for me. He was non-judgmental and patient, something those of us in recovery really need. I appreciate a doctor like him who goes above and beyond for his patients, and this was the first time I had the pleasure of being seen by him. The emergency room was very busy when I was seen there and he took the time to periodically peek in and say “don’t worry I didn’t forget about you. I’ll be back as soon as I can”. I commented to the nurse who cared for me in the ER that I’ve never had a doctor as attentive as Dr. Huckins, and she said “every doctor in this hospital should be Dr. Huckins.”

I was fortunate to see Dr. Huckins and a wonderful nurse at my recent trip to the ER at Newton Wellesley. Dr. Huckins took his time to explain everything to me in a calm, caring manner. He was efficient and focused on diagnosing my pain. I felt comforted and well taken care of in his hands. I have heard great things about him and I can attest that they are all true!

First person to care about a full and proper diagnosis. He was patient and kind and he checked in on me after I was admitted and again after discharge. No passing of the buck with him. I value his sound judgement and his authentic concern for me. Thanks Dr. H and Newton Wellesley.

Dr. Huckins is my go to at Newton Wellesley. As a retired nurse, I know first hand what good care is. I have my favorites with all the docs and nurses. Dr. Lemon and Dr. Berg are also superb.

Nobody likes to leave a family gathering and end up in the ER. Dr. Huckins was honest and delivered my options in a professional manner. When my primary care was contacted he concurred with Dr. Huckins’ treatment plan and told me I had the best doc at the hospital looking after me. He was right. He was patient and attentive. He allowed me and my family to make decisions about my treatment and provided specifics and historical data so we could be as educated as possible and make the decision that was best for us. It’s nice to go to an ER these days and get personal attention, not be rushed and not be treated like a number when so many other hospitals seem to be run as a for profit business.

Dr. Hutchins saw me recently when I came in for asthma treatment. I usually get a quick checknobwr but this doctor sensed I wasn't feeling well. He spent time talking with me and allowed me to stay until I felt compfoetablw to leave since I live alone. He checked in on me and phoned family members and called me later I the week to see how I was. His gentle demeanor and caring attitude meant the world to me. I saw him a year ago for an injury due to a fall and he was as he gentle and caring as he was this visit. Thankyou, Dr. Hutchins.

I suffer from asthma and heart disease. Dr. Huckins took care of me in the ER better than my primary does. He was very compassionate and treated me with respect. The nursing staff was top notch too. This was the best experience I had in the ER. I also got a follow up call checking up on me.

Very respectful and patient. He was willing to talk to several family members in different locations and update them on my status. Incredibly diligent and professional.

Professional and respectful. I would like him to become my primary care physician. Knowledgeable and very accurate in his diagnosis. A very kindly gentleman indeed!
