Dr. David Andrew Kagey, MD

I have been going to Dr. Kagey for years, since 2012. I do not find him to be as terrible as many of these review's state. He answers all my questions. Is very polite, asks me if there is anything else. He is quiet and I think that is what may be off putting to some people. I have never felt like he ignored me or didn't listen to me. Once when I told him I was very concerned he ordered more testing to ease my concerns.

Dr. Keagy has a serious case of old-school “the doctor is God” syndrome. I found him arrogant and straight-up rude. He never looked up from the paper he scribbled on, and had me feeling that he disliked me, in a personal way. Doctors MUST display at least a nominal sense of compassion for the patients. He did not. In my working life, I managed physicians and their medical practices for 40+ years. Dr. Keagy would NOT have lasted. I would have fired him.

Dr. Keagy seemed bored as I related my medical history. I felt as though he just couldn’t be bothered dealing with me. I’m sure he is highly qualified, but his demeanor is not working for me.

Dr. Kagey is indeed rude and arrogant. His nurse was very nice, but he could have cared less about my husband’s health and the problem that sent us to a urologist. He rarely looked up from the papers he was holding, and didn’t want to answer questions. He did not do lab work that should have been done. I’m not surprised his waiting room was empty. We will not be returning. Do yourself a favor and find a different doctor..

I will not go back to this doctor. I went to him for a kidney stone two years ago. He was such a jerk--but I thought maybe he was just having a bad year. Another stone returned recently, and I couldn't get a referral from another doc fast enough, so I went back to Kagey. Even took my wife with me to see if I was imagining things. She also thought he was a real tool with no bedside manner at all. Rude. Rude. Rude. He acts like it is an inconvenience for you to be in the office and taking up his time. He interrupts his patents when they ask questions, and he is demeaning in his answers. He might be a good doctor--but he has a terrible personality. When people go to the doctor--they expect the doc to be good with the knife or whatever. But we also expect some patient support and advocacy. He provides none of that. I had a procedure yesterday and he provided me with NO post-op care plans. He didn't even come to see me once I woke back up. He needs severe patient advocacy remediation!!! I'd… give no stars but you have to at least give one.

Kagey insists he is always right. I had an operation to correct a hydrocele. Several months after surgery, the swelling began to get worse. He claimed it was a hematoma, and that it takes time. Over the next couple of months, it got even larger. An ultrasound was performed and he still claimed just a hematoma. I questioned this, and he became rude. Told me I moved a certain way and caused an injury. Second opinion from a different urologist confirmed small hematoma and large hydrocele. Fluid that comes out is straw colored, not red. If you have a choice of urologist, go to someone other than Kagey.

Went for pre-confirmed hydrocele repair. Had surgery. 7 months post-surgery, it was getting larger again. Was told it was a hematoma and it just takes time. Another 3 months it was even larger. Ultrasound done, and he STILL insisted only a hematoma. Questioned his diagnosis on the logic of it, but he would not budge. Second opinion via another urologist verified hematoma AND extremely obvious large hydrocele. Now, it's as large as it was before I went to Kagey to start with.

My experience with Dr. Kagey has been a good one. I had surgery and it went well. He told me what I needed and said I would be happy with the results. I am.

Based on comments left in the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about my appointment. Reception Staff and Doctor could not have been more pleasant both before and after my appointment. Excellent experience.
