Dr. David William Kamp, MD

Dr. David W. Kamp received his MD degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine (1981) and completed his post-graduate training in internal medicine (1984) and Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine (1987) at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center. He currently is a Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Chief of the Pulmonary Section at the Jesse Brown VA - Northwestern University affiliate. Dr. Kamp is a Fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians. He is an attending staff physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. In 2003 and 2004, Dr. Kamp received an Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Medicine at Northwestern University. He has served on the editorial board of Chest (2003-2005) and was the President of the Central Society for Clinical Research (2006-2007). Dr. Kamp …currently serves on the editorial board of Clinical Pulmonary Medicine (2002-present) and is an Associate Editor of Translational Research - Journal Laboratory and Clinical Medicine (2006-present). His research focus, which is supported by a Veterans Administration Merit Award, explores the mechanisms by which lung epithelial cells are injured by free radicals and airborne particulates such as asbestos.
