Dr. David M Karas

I have been a patient of Dr. Karas and The Oak Brook Dental Center for over 20 years. I have always been treated very kindly, with much compassion and concern for my comfort and well-being. On a few occasions I had an emergency situation after hours and was able to contact Dr. Karas and he got back to me within 5 minutes. The entire office staff, especially Carol the office manager, always does everything to accommodate scheduling convenient appointments, follow up visits, and explains the treatment costs before the procedure begins. The entire team at The Oak Brook Dental Center is very professional and will try and make your visit as painless as possible.

I have to say that I have always hated going to the dentist until I found this office. EVERYONE on staff is always so nice and friendly. I went a few weeks ago for my cleaning and forgot that my husband's insurance switched to a different dental insurance carrier and not only did Carol (the one who runs the office) call me before I received a notice from insurance but she resubmitted my bill to the new insurance right away. Then, she followed up with me about replacing some old fillings - suggesting that I take care of it before the end of the year so I wouldn't have to start over with my deductible. Talk about caring for your patients! Not only do they care about the health of my teeth but they also care about my out of pocket expenses! I am so glad I found them!!!

I just want to start off with, the doctors at this office are amazing! They treat their patients with care and minimize the pain for you whether it's an extraction, cavity (I've gotten it all). My only MAJOR concern is with the administrative part of his office. It is run by Carol, who at first seems very nice, but is very condescending. Even though I am in my mid twenties, she talks to me like a am a 5 year old; from the moment I've walked in for my consultation to the moment I stopped going there. Aside from that, she and her staff do not know how to code correctly for the insurance agencies. Her staff and her tried telling me that insurance didn't cover 1/2 of what they were going to do it me. I called my insurance and they told me the complete opposite; so naturally when the first bill came, and it was huge, I called my insurance agency and asked them why they didn't cover it. They told me that the admin at dr. Karas' office NEED TO CODE CORRECTLY. That they were not doing it… right. I spoke with carol and she did not change it. I ended up getting slapped with bigger bills that I refused to pay until she coded it correctly so that my insurance would cover; she did not. She left me a threatening phone call Ian's sent a letter to receive payment. I of course got nervous and just sent a check and slipped it into there prepaid envelope they leave you. They then later sent me another one a couple months later. What happened to the check I sent previously? I know it got delivered because I sent it certified as well. Utter incompetence. The ONLY reason I stopped going to dr. Kara's is because of the incompetence of the administrative staff.
