Very nice man, very personable. He spent as much time as needed to explain and help figure things out for the patient.

First appointment with Dr. Kirlin was good. He spent nearly an hour explaining the type of cancer my husband was diagnosed with and then what stage he may be in. Stage unknown at time of appointment. We were given a detailed printout about his type of cancer and recommended treatment options based on the thought he was Stage 1. We were to read it and come back with questions and thoughts on what treatment option or path we wanted to take. The next appointment we were prepared with questions and my husband's preferred treatment path. Dr. Kirlin probably didn't spend more than 5 minutes with us though we were in the exam room for about 45 minutes watching him bound back and forth down the hallway. He was waiting for a fax with my husband's CT scan results. His nurse tried to get him to see the other patient waiting while we were waiting on the fax, but he said no, he will take too long. I need to spend more time with him. Okay, this other guy may have a more serious diagnosis,… but when your husband has cancer he is just as important as the other guy. Finally, he dismissed us, told us to schedule a chemo appointment without any instructions on preparation and another 30 minute appointment with him right before his FIRST chemo treatment. Sorry, chemo is a serious thing. Sure that was my husband's treatment choice, but he still had questions he needed answered. How about explaining the risks, benefits, etc? Also, Dr. Kirlin had a female with him that he brought in the exam room with us that we can only assume was either a student, intern or resident. She was not introduced, nor did he as permission for her to sit in on our appointment. I guess since he did not actually spend much time with us it didn't matter what she heard or saw. We are extremely disappointed, especially since the first visit was so good.
