Summary
Welcome to My Home Page!
My road to becoming a member of the Kaiser Permanente Emergency Medicine team was far from a direct path. I grew up in the Central Valley of California. While earning my agricultural engineering degree at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I became an emergency medical technician and worked on an ambulance. This was my first real introduction to emergency medicine and I loved it. There was excitement, variety, and the chance to help people in a way that no other form of medicine or public service offers.
But providing this service beyond working for an ambulance would have to wait. After college I joined the United States Navy as a Naval Flight Officer. I spent the better part of the next eight years on the crew of a P-3C Orion aircraft. Through deployments to the western Pacific and Indian Oceans, I had the honor of participating in our national defense while flying in support of operations Dessert Shield, Dessert Storm and Southern Watch.
I could not stay away …from the allure of emergency medicine. I took my medical school prerequisites while still in the Navy and applied to medical school. After medical school in Chicago, it was off to residency where I was exposed to the full spectrum of medical and traumatic emergencies. Following the amazing experience at Yale University, it was time to return to California.
Before I came to Kaiser Permanente, I had the opportunity to look at several different practice models. Emergency medicine at Kaiser Permanente was the perfect match for me. At Kaiser Permenente, the patient is placed at the center of the healthcare model. It allows me to focus on providing the best care for each and every patient. I can get virtually any test I think a patient needs and make the best decisions using the latest literature to support my decision. If I need a consult, I have nearly every specialist one can imagine just a phone call away. Kaiser Permanente allows me to be the best doctor I can be and give each patient the care they deserve.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two amazing boys and their assorted activities. We love exploring the Bay area and hiking with our dog on the local trails.
I am a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews
Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.
Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
