Dr. David Coffin Longcope, MD

My husband recently had surgery and with blessed by having Dr. Longcope as his surgeon. Without his amazing skills, the cancer that my husband may have not been found and we would possibly not have found out about it until much later. Dr. Longcope is not only a highly skilled surgeon, he is also kind, caring, easy to talk to and a teacher to those of us who need further explanations. My husband and I highly recommend him!

Dr. Longcope is an excellent surgeon. He treated my husband for colon issues and the surgery went extremely smoothly. The only thing I would caution you about would be to ask if he is going to use any assistants who are not in the same insurance networks that he is in ,before the surgery. He used a man named Dennis Paige as a surgical assistant and we found out months later when bill started to arrive that he was not in our network. So we ended up with a large unexpected medical bill and hours on the phone "fighting" with our insurance company. Dr. Longcope, the anesthesiologists, nurses, hospital, and everyone else involved in the surgery was in our network so we felt like the use of this assistant, which their team knew they were going to use before the surgery was not all that professional. It came off as a last minute sneaky thing no one had told us about ahead of time. We always check to make sure our medical visits are in network because we can't afford to pay out of network… and everyone was supposed to be but like I said, no one notified us that Paige was assisting, and that he was unaffiliated with Dr. Longcope's office or Rose Hospital.

I love this doctor he has helped me tremendously. He always comes up with a plan or solution. He also a great surgeon, as he has done multiple surgies on me

My sister was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer over 4 years ago dr. Longcope did the surgery was so kind and was there for her and explaining things she went into remission two years ago and we are so thankful to him the quickness that he got her in and did the surgery all happenedwithin 2 weeks time of her being diagnosed this is an amazing doctor.and we thank him with all our hearts as a family..

Harpster was not willing to negotiate with our insurance so we ended up with a large unexpected medical bill. Dr. Longcope and his staff did a good job preparing me for the surgery, which went just fine. I don't know if they followed up, as I was sleeping, but I am very comfortable the day after the surgery.

Not bad, but not the best either. Appts always seem rushed, like he wants to be done with you as soon as possible. I also don't think he explains things as well as other doctors I've had in the past.

The physician was coolly professional, the office staff overall was slow to respond and unprofessional.

Dr. Longcope performed surgery on me when he was in Metairie,La. and I was very much satisfied with him. I am very sorry that he left after Hurricane Katrina. Now that I am having a similar problem of which he treated, I wish that he was still here in the New Orleans area. I have been able to get an appointment with one of his former associates and hope that everything works out as when he treated me.
