Dr. David Michael Mael, MD

Dr. Mael is outstanding. He is a keen listener; he doesn't rush through an appointment, but takes the time to do a thorough history, examination, listens to every nuance and observes his patients closely. He is calm and gentle. He is kind and empathetic. His information is up to the moment and he and his team work hard to get his patients what they need for treatment. The entire staff is considerate, warm, and welcoming. If you need a rheum in Chicago, do not pass Go; go see Dr. Mael.

Dr. Mael is highly professional and thorough. He is a great communicator and listens very carefully. You never feel rushed, and he gives you his full attention. You will know what the next steps are - what tests are required - and what the treatment plan is by the end of your visit. The best.

One of the worse rhumatologists generally. Also seams that he writes his own reviews. I highly doubt anyone would write "I cannot believe someone would say he's not a good doctor." This was my experience: Dr. Mael came in with a student. He concentrated on teaching the student instead of doing any exam of me. He dismissed the records of another doctor saying "I didn't know what they were taking about" (the other doctor was once the head of a department). He laughed at any of my description of symptoms and treatment given over the years. He provided zero advise or option. I was immediately sent to another rhuhmatologidt by my physician and placed on proper medication right away to avoid further damage.

Dr. Mael has been my doctor for over 16 years. You feel his warmth & you feel he really cares for you as his patient. He remembers details about my personal life & is intersted to know how my husband & children are doing. He is very easy to talk to. He responds in a timely manner. Even though our move to a new house puts us about an hour away one way from his office (even much more with Chicago traffic), I choose to still have him as my doctor. I would never ever trade him for another rheumy! He is the best!

I can believe someone would say Dr. Mael was not a good Doc. I have followed him from North Shore and he has helped me tremendously. You work with different medicines until something works and he listens and cares. I know he is out ill right now and I am having problems and hope not to have to find a new doctor, I would be heartbroken to change at this point. Only desperation would make me leave and then again if I do I will probably go back to him when he returns.

He has been my doctor for many years. He is amazing and worked well in finding the perfect medication for my diagnosis. I was with him when he worked at North Shore and unfortunately he has transferred to Masonic, But I have transferred my records to his new location as well. I highly reccomend him to anyone. He is extremely curtious and caring.

Terrible doctor when it comes to patient care and diagnoses. Dont waist your time going to him. His students spend more time examining the patient than the doctor himself. Dr. Mael doesnt even attempt to present the patient with any help, tests or possible treatment. After presenting Dr. Mael with what lab results that obviously point to a rhumatological issue, the doctor simply said I just not smart enough to figure out what is wrong with you. No one should waist time and money seeing a doctor such as this with such lack of knowledge and wiliness to help patients. I would say its very surprising that Dr. Mael eve has patients at all, however, he simply recently bough patient records from another doctor who has resigned her practice.
