Dr. David F Mar, MD

I was a patient with Dr Mar and used to think that’s how doctors are. I’m writing this review now because I’ve actually had doctors that care about my personalized health. I have a tarsal coalition - an ankle bone malformation that I’ve recently found out IS CORRECTABLE BY SURGERY. This guy neglected to tell me this FOR YEARS and insisted I would have to live my life in pain and discomfort, using insoles for the “relief.” To top it all off, when I was 10% body fat at 6’2” and 195 lbs, this a**hole continuously told me I needed to lose weight. I thought I was fat! I developed an eating disorder and psychological dysmorphia! AND NEVER ONCE DID HE CHECK MY ACTUAL BODY COMPOSITION!! I honestly haven’t had a doctor as careless as Dr Mar since leaving him.

I had a most unfortunate visit with Dr. Mar about a year ago to the day. From the moment he walked into the room, I felt uncomfortable. I have a LONG history with the medical world with about a dozen or more surgeries under my belt and a cancer diagnosis over 8 years ago now. I know good doctors, and know how important certain traits are to have in being a good doctor. First off, I am a very open, fair, unbiased and unbigoted person. The issues I had with Dr. Mar, briefly: He had been eating and was still chewing when he came into the room- This would have been annoying but unfortunately the experience gets worse... I immediately I noticed that his pants zipper was down and his shirt was partially out and unbuttoned at the bottom. His stomach was partially exposed. I feel that this day and age, the news is fairly clear that weight and too much of it is not good for your health. I know that doctors are not super human and they can just as easily suffer from weight issues,… however this was not just a little bit. It was the unhealthy side of fat and clear that it was from lack of exercise and eating the wrong food. He was unkempt and sloppy appearing. I could not think or hear about anything but wanting to get out of the room, but I was a little stunned. When he examined me, he touch me on the stomach for a sore throat! It felt uncomfortable to the point I wanted to crawl out of my skin. As we finished, I wanted to straighten my clothes and pick up my things to leave. Normally the doctor has gone out the door by this time. But the Doctor, he did not move from his chair and just waited for me to walk to the door. He swiveled his chair around and just awkwardly watched me watch me and eyed me up and down as I walked to the door. The whole thing was just super creepy... Unfortunately, I could not let my experience go and had to report it to the upper admin staff. I have no idea what, happened after that, if anything,. I so hope they told Dr. Mar constructively, and since, he has learned to present himself in a more professional manner. I hope that he learned how NOT to make a female patient so uncomfortable.

I have gone to Dr. Mar for years. I started to going to him when I could not get and appointment with his partner and never left. I think Dr. Mar genuinely cares about my overall health and is not interested in just writing prescription and sending me home. I have referred my wife and best friend to him.

My experience with dr david mar left me untreated and with a feeling of helplessness. I needed advice and direction but was left with no real answers and a since of disconnection between dr and patient.
