Dr. David Andrew Mclain, MD

I have been a patient for many years (since he was at Brookwood) and I can truly say he has been a Godsend to me. He is an excellent diagnostician, and he listens carefully, taking it all in. There is sometimes a wait, but I feel that he takes time with me too, so I don't mind that. His staff is caring and professional. Dr. McLain understands Rheumatoid Arthritis better than anyone I know and keeps himself abreast of the latest information. I went to three doctors to confirm my diagnosis, but his was the first and the most comprehensive. He is brilliant and always wears funny ties or Bama ties. I also like his new PA who is funny, smart and professional.

Dr McClain truly cares and listens to his patients. He is brilliant and works hard to find out what is wrong with you. He diagnosed- correctly- an immune deficiency and bloodwork confirmed it at my first visit. I love love dr mcclain! He has a nurse practitioner now to and she is great also.

I called in for an appointment for Fibro and was told to get a referral. It took me a day because I'm from out of town. I got a referral and called to finally get that appointment. Once I got them on the phone, I was told they were no longer taking patients. I'm very upset after doing all the paperwork to be told " oh, we're not taking anymore Fibro patients ". Why wasn't I told that the FIRST time I called? They need to get it together. ??

Dr. McLain is an exceptional doctor. He has been my doctor for approximately 25 yrs. He is the most knowledgeable dr I know on autoimmune disorders. He saved my life!!!

Dr. David McLain is great doctor not a good one. He has helped me in everyway with my Scleroderma & Sjogren's. Too many health problems to list in his specialty. Also with my immune system, and all my on going autoimmune problems. My first doctors were at UAB, but I changed after one year to have Dr. McLain as my doctor in 1995. I gave him five stars but if there were a six or more it would have been more my choice.

I thoroughly recommend Dr. Mclain. I have been seeing him for years. If I have to wait, which I no longer do, it is worth it.

I was dr. Mclains patient about 7 yrs and had no complaints ever against him. But ive been dismissed by his office manager about 5 yrs ago for noncompliance for doing what dr mclain recommended i do. I now have been diagnosed with RA and lupus and have been without a dr for years. I wish i could discuss this dr mclain so i could get the care i need. I never had any complaints with the care i received by him and his nurses.

I've never had a dr take the time with me like Dr. Mclain does. He not only asks questions, he lets you ask questions and give ALL your information without interrupting. Wait time is about average. Some days worse than others but I drive 2:25 hours to see him...in other words, worth it!

I've been a patient of Dr. McLain since I was 16... that was ten years ago. He tried to get in front of my RA and Fibromyalgia but was unable to. Before he left Brookwood, he was doing well and I loved his staff. Then he moved to his wife's office off of 280 and it's horrible. He has too many patients so the wait is ridiculous. His nurses are rude and they're never there for more than 6 months. Let's just say that I'm here to find his replacement.
