Dr. David Ashley Mcmenamin, MD

I went to this doctor because it was time for my colonoscopy. I was scheduled an appointment within about 3 days of contacting him which is unusual for a specialist. While at his office I also told him about symptoms I was experiencing so when he suggested doing the colonoscopy I agreed. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up the medicine the prescription was written for someone else. I had to call from the pharmacy and have them call the prescription in. The day of the colonoscopy my name wasn't even on the surgery list. We had to talk to hospital staff and explain that the prescription was in someone else's name and sure enough that name was on the surgery list so they worked it out and went ahead and did the procedure. A couple of weeks after the procedure, we got a bill for over $1200.00 After talking to other people who had paid nothing for the procedure because it was a preventative thing, I called our insurance and told them the situation. What I found out was… McMenamin had not coded it as a preventative procedure therefore we would have to pay it. The insurance made at least 2 attempts to get hold of his office. When they finally reached him, he refused to code it as preventative even though we plainly told him it was time for me to have it done at the first office visit. I talked to a friend of mine who was a doctor for years and is now a lawyer and even he said that McMenamin just didn't want to help us out.
