Dr. David Edward Nonweiler, MD

Worked with him at St. Francis, there are better docs in town in see for ortho.

I went to him last year and immediately turned me into operations. When the operation worked on my knee, the nerve in the other knee occurred incorrectly because one of his assistants pressed it throughout the operation. The process was very bad so far I could not walk well and I have great pain all the time.

Good experience to a bad accident. I will recommend Dr. Nonweiler to anybody.

I am a 69 year old disabled veteran. I requested Dr Nonweiler (Thru the VA) for knee $ shoulder problems. I had read his previous reviews (prior to 2015) and was thrilled to have the opportunity to see him. . After waiting a long time while X-rays were taken and filling out release of information forms he saw me. At first he seemed thorough with his examination , then he asked me why I was in the hospital in Dec of 2014 (he seemed to turn cold toward me) I told him is wasn't in he hospital that I had only used the VA system. I felt he doubted me, by his demeanor. (why would I need to lie about this?) He never told me what hospital he thought I was in. He pointed out some sores on my knee (I had a rash of some sort on my left knee) and asked me what they were. I told him I didn't know what they were or what caused them. He acted suspicious, felt judged for what I have no idea . He told me I had "end stage arthritis in both knees & shoulders". He then told me he could be of no help… for me as surgery wasn't an option (my health is not great). He told me his only option was to take Tylenol . His report was so brief that my VA Dr felt it was not useful to him. I kept wondering why he was so cold to me. Then it came to me that maybe -possibly he could have somehow got my sons records (same name) who has some problems.( I won't discuss here). He as far as I know could not have had my VA records. When it occurred to me that maybe he had my sons records I called his office - several times- and finally got his nurse. I toldher that I was concerned that he may have had the wrong records, and I was told that she would check with the DR and get back to me. A couple more calls ,I finally got her and asked if she had heard from the Dr. She told me she hadn't. That was my last communication with their office. I have never received a response from his office.

I have had several visits with Dr. Nonweiler, to get to a point that we scheduled a shoulder surgery. I then had to request to reschedule that surgery due to an infection. At my next appointment, suddenly, in front of a student, who he never bothered to introduce to me, he becomes rude, yelling, disrespectful, demanding I get a psychiatric evaluation, that I see a neurosurgeon, (of which he already sent me to and received the results prior to the first surgery schedule). Nothing in my life, other than my shoulder pain, has worsened or changed since he and I scheduled my surgery a few months earlier. I am wondering if he cannot handle being both a teaching physician and a practicing orthopedist. Until today, I would have rated this doctor much better. If he feels the surgery I need is too complicated for him, a referral by him to a different physician would have been appropriate. All he had to do was say it is not within his scope of practice, and point my in that direction rather… than berate and belittle me. I am completely confused by this sudden irratic change in his behavior. Can he not just acknowledge that my problem is out of his scope of abilities? This long waste of my time is inexcusable for any physician. I have learned from this experience to be sure I know who I am dealing with and their scope of abilities. I am not impressed by a doctor that belittles me to impress one of his students.

Dr. Nonweiler and Surgical Assistant Kristi and his nursing staff are truly an awesome team. Without going in to a lot of particulars, I'll just say Dr. Nonweiler stepped up to the plate to ensure I had all of the knowledge possible for my surgery and aftercare. There was absolutely NO infection due to this Doctor's oversight. I will definitely refer my friends and family to his care.

I felt sorry for the receptionist. There were 7 people in line at 7:00 AM. She was extremely nice and very competent. Had a cheerful attitude. The ladies that took insurance were very nice and efficient. Finally got into see the Dr. At 8:10. After that it went pretty quick. Had to have X-rays. The tech was also very nice and efficient. Scheduling- super. Dr. Nonwieler put me at ease and the information he departed was very easy to understand. He took the time to answer all of my questions. My only suggestion is give the receptionist some help I the AM.

My husband had an ankle surgery many years earlier with Dr. Nonweiler, and when I knew I would need knee replacement, I wanted Dr. Nonweiler to do it. It has been one full year and I just completed my check up. Everything he has said about my situation was correct. I feel better than ever now. I highly recommend Dr. Nonweiler.

I started going to Dr. Nonweiler for a knee injury that required surgery. Dr. Nonweiler and his team were fantastic in all aspects. During the pre-operative appointments, they made sure I understood my injury, the surgery and recovery process. I was especially impressed at the care they took to make me as comfortable as possible during the procedure. From a post-operative perspective, they have been equally excellent. They have been diligent in their care and aiding in my recovery. They always have time to answer questions and explain the rationale behind the treatment.

I started going to Dr. Nonweiler because of a workers' comp. claim for carpal tunnel syndrome. He helped me understand the severity of the problem, that I needed surgery, and what would happen before and after. I am completely satisfied with the surgery on both of my hands. The entire process was handled very professionally and I was treated very well by the office staff, his PA, and the team at the hospital. Compared to my friend that had the same surgery two weeks before I did, I am a hundred times further along than she is.I would highly recommend Dr. Nonweiler and his team to anyone contemplating any type of surgery. I know that I will need surgery on my ankle in the future and this is the place I will come back to.
