Dr. David Matthew Poppers, MD

I visited Dr. Poppers for a potential biliary colic (tentative diagnosis by another doctor who recommended I see a GI specialist). Rather than doing an ultrasound (the first recommended test for this potential diagnosis) he ordered a GI endoscopy, a colonoscopy (completely unrelated to the symptoms!), an abdominal CT and an EKG (absolutely unrelated). The blood tests where a mix of potentially relevant ones (celiac disease, hepatitis) and completely irrelevant ones (STDs). He also placed an order in a pharmacy far from my home (he added it because my regular pharmacy was in my profile). The pharmacy filled it automatically and called me to pick it up. His ordering of unnecessary tests, his notes in my clinical record and the pharmacy order were all unprofessional.

Before seeing Dr. Poppers, I struggled for two years with various stomach problems. From his excellent treatment, curiosity, investigative mind and ability to connect, you will not be disappointed. Right after our initial appointment, I felt like I was in good hands and I knew what our next steps looked like. Within a short period of time, Dr. Poppers went over my diagnosis and treatment options. Finally, I have my life back and I am not constantly running to the bathroom. What I found most meaningful about this experience is that Dr. Poppers actually listens to his patients. It is extremely rare for someone to truly be an active listener in 2021! With his exceptional listening skills and genuine care for his patience, you will be taken care of. I would highly recommend becoming his patient!

I was highly impressed with Dr. Poppers and highly recommend him for any gastro issues. I found him to be extremely caring, efficient, thorough and knowledgeable. The offices are also very clean and beautiful, and I was able to have blood work done right there. Later that same day, I was contacted to schedule MRI. The NYU Langone app is also wonderful as you can schedule appointments; communicate with your doctor and see all your test results. You can even go on a wait list for an earlier opening opening, which I was lucky to obtain.

Stay away. He does not return messages. No follow up. Unprofessional staff.

As mentioned above this man has the tact of a prison guard. He is arrogant and condescending. He is definitely in the wrong profession. I will never want this person treating me or anybody for that manner.

Uncaring, out of touch, doctor who does not return phone calls and impossible to get an appointment with. Horrible office staff.

my wife had a appointment with him and he was rude unprofessional and prepotent and after my wife put a complaint he blames the translator. he got frustrated and told my wife that he didn’t have enough time to see her the most he could spend with each patient is about 15 minutes and that my required about 2 hours

Dr. Poppers impressed me with his clinical knowledge, his thoroughness, his responsiveness to my concerns, his patience, and his caring bedside manner. Dr. Poppers is skilled at diagnosing and treating patients with the latest technology. I recommend him highly.
