Dr. David E Porterfield, DO

Well! He got me diagnosed with a kidney stone just a pee in the bottle. Comes to me and throws his facts on dangers of Marijuana then tells me he gonna help me and give some pain meds but if he ever sees Marijuana again in my system he won't help me with pain. I smoke hemp and hemp is legal so it's not an illicit drug. I can by hemp flower without a script at hunnysickle hemp. In dothan alabama! All day long. I politely handed him back his scripts for pain. And from now on I'll treat my own pain the way I see fit. Your rude! Condescending, arrogant, and flat need to retire you don't make sence!

Went in severely dehydrated with sever diarrhea, was treated at one hospital in Chipley for it, due to the weekend and holiday, "July 4" my doctor won't be open till Wednesday, so I had to go to Wiregrass medical center er, Dr Porterfeild was on call doctor and told him everything that was going on and what the chipley hospital said, this stupid ass treats me for lower back pain and tells me to exercise! When I told him the other doctor was wanting my kidneys to be rechecked after a few day, He told me that he only treats one system and the lower back pain was more important

Dr. Porterfield was quite in-depth in his exam. I had an accident and thought I had broken my leg. There was a huge lump and swelling and I was in severe pain. My blood pressure was 199 over 116. He ordered trays. He administered pain meds, something for nausea, a tetanus shot and a pill to bring down my blood pressure. He would not discharge me until my blood pressure came down. He looked over the x-ray and said my leg was not broken but did find an anomaly on the x-ray. He did say to work on lower body strength. I would use him again.

I was t boned in a car accident earlier that afternoon. He did not do any xrays. Just gave me a referral for a book on diabetes. He mentioned that I have one leg shorter than the other and that I need to exercise. I went to another er. They did xrays of my neck and back. I gave a sprained neck and back and whiplash. He was rude and very condescending.

I saw Dr. Porterfield after having surgery. I had rapid heart rate, high BP, an arrhythmia, and a rash up my leg. He came into my room after my case was handed off to him and told me how to breathe, diagnosed me with Anxiety, and discharged me after 2 hours of breathing exercises that did not lower my HR under 120. He also never addressed the rash on my leg or my surgical site. I was shocked at the care given by Dr. Porterfield. The nursing staff also was shocked that he was releasing me; even my labs showed low potassium and sodium. I had a racing HR for hours prior to going to the ER and was still discharged after 2 hours with no progress in HR. I ended up having to go to another hospital the same night where I was actually taken care of. I was diagnosed with cellulitis.

Dr Porterfield was very good with me at my emergency room visit. He talked to me on my level, and went above and beyond explaining my condition. He gave me guidelines to follow that help me reduce my chances of a reoccurrence. Grateful!

I have known and received medical advice and treatment from Dr. Porterfield for many years and consider him to be an absolutely outstanding physician who tells it like it is, even if it's not what you wanted to hear. Respectfully, Alan E. Diehl, Ph.D.

My daughter went in last night due to a car wreck and was told by this Dr that if she were not over weight, that if she worked out she would not have gotten hurt. He told her that she needed to by a total gym and took it upon himself to walk out in the parking to look at the damage to her car. She happens weigh under 150. I'm shocked at this behavior. Thank goodness she does not have to follow up wth him.

One of the rudest doctors ever in the medical field, very smart mouthed and nonchalant. If you are sick and he is on duty, drive the extra mileage to somewhere else.
