Dr. David Neil Roberts

I came to the doctor last year in September. I had a good experience with the doctor and he listened to my symptoms and took plenty of time with me. He ordered four tests that I picked up at Mercy Hospital in Edmond,Oklahoma. I followed through with getting tested as told. One of the tests showed positive for something and I was treated for it. I recovered quite nicely. However shortly after I received a bill from Quest Diagnostics showing that two of the tests were not covered. I reached out to the doctor and asked them if they could send in a different codes. That perhaps that was the problem. I took a picture of the bill and sent it through the portal. They evidently submitted the bill again and tacked on a different code onto the previous code. This was also denied. My insurance company told me that that was done improperly. Since then I've been going back and forth for over 6 months trying to get them to do their job. They have told me they've done all they can do. But what I have… learned since then is that they have to go through the proper channels through my insurance company on the website to determine what my insurance needs to have these claims paid for. I am very confident that they have not done that. They have repeatedly told me that they have not had a problem with other people and have consistently ordered these tests multiple times with no issues. They think my insurance company will not cover them. In my experience my insurance company doesn't always initially cover something unless it doesn't have all the proper codes or documentation. They are a stickler. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and it is a private insurance through my husband's company. From my experience I can only recall one time that I have had something not paid for by my insurance. It was vitamin D that wasn't covered. It was a similar situation where the codes were improperly submitted or where wrong. When I had vitamin D checked later and it was coded correctly it was covered. So I know how important it is to have the coding correct. I have reached out to the doctor's office and tried to speak to the supervisor and the doctor to see if we could get somewhere. They refuse to call me back. The only people I've been able to talk to is the nursing staff and I believe the receptionist is the answers to the phone. To me this is very unprofessional. I am now stuck with a bill over $600. I'm also forced to wait several months to be seen by another gastrologist. We shouldn't have to go through things like this. I don't think this would have been an issue if this was money the doctor was owed. However since it is a bill of mine and mine alone they don't care. At least that's how they came across. I'm hoping they see this review and do something about the problem. I'm certain this will come up again. If it's not me it will be someone else. Insurance companies are getting more difficult I understand that. However we are forced to deal with it as well. We pay a lot of money for our insurance and we expect to have our insurance work for us. Be very wary if you go to this doctor's office and have a lab work done. Be sure to get everything in writing before you do. Make sure that the insurance covers the test that you're having done. I wish I had confirmed before I had my labs that they were covered by insurance. Of course I believe they are, they just don't want to do anything about it now that it's out of their hands. They don't think they care if they lose me as a patient. It's sad.

A very good doctor. He treats you like a person and not a medical chart.

DR Roberts was very thorough! He asked a lot of questions pre-testing and was able to get me in quick, due to internal bleeding.
