Dr. David Louis Schechter, MD

I've been with Dr. Schechter for almost 10 years now, and I'm sad that I have to find a new doctor (moved to a new state). His staff has always been kind and on top of things. If you're looking for a doctor to coddle you, that's not Dr. Schechter. However, if you want quality care from someone who stays on top of the latest medical information, pushes you to take better care of yourself, and hears and addresses your concerns, this is your guy. He was incredibly communicative through the pandemic, a time when everyone was desperate for up-to-date information. He is well connected and offered quality referrals when needed. I appreciated that he supported mental health in addition to standard everyday medicine.

As a patient of Dr. David Shechter for over two years, I can confidently say that he consistently provides outstanding care, compassion, and professionalism. Dr. Shechter's medical expertise is evident in the improvement I have experienced, and his warm and empathetic demeanor has always made me feel comfortable and at ease. Throughout my time with Dr. Shechter, he has maintained open communication and ensured that I was well-informed about my treatment. His attention to detail and genuine interest in my well-being have made a significant impact on my health. In addition to Dr. Shechter's medical prowess, his support staff is equally impressive. The receptionists, nurses, and assistants were all kind, attentive, and accommodating, contributing to an overall positive experience at the clinic. In short, my experience with Dr. David Shechter has been nothing short of exceptional. His combination of medical expertise, compassion, and excellent communication skills make him an… outstanding doctor. I am grateful for his care and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated medical professional.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Dr. Schecter. Right away I got the impression that he was insensitive, cold and arrogant. He did not say anything of practical use whatsoever and just criticized me because I hadn’t finished reading his book all the way through which I told him I’d started. He bragged about making an appearance in a documentary about chronic pain. I watched the documentary and it was absolutely awful and didn’t divulge any details into how to cure pain. It mentioned there being a psychosomatic element to a lot of types of pain but that doesn’t explain how to cure it. A couple of famous people appeared in the film and I think Dr. Schecter has probably really let it go to his head that he was worked with famous people. As a side note, I have also worked with plenty of celebrities and I could absolutely care less as they are just human beings like anyone else. He also had berated me for being 5 minutes late to the appointment. To top it all off, I had… paid $450 out of pocket to see him, only to be treated rudely and left feeling much worse and more stressed than when I arrived. Will absolutely not be returning and would not recommend him to anybody.

I don't doubt that Dr. Schecter is a highly skilled physician and I will always be grateful for his book about freeing yourself from pain which helped greatly. With my current family MD semi retired, I needed a new physician so I was excited to meet with Dr. Schecter. Unfortunately, like many people, he now believes his own publicity. He was arrogant and rude, spent maximum of 15 minutes with me. He didn't listen to me, was critical and with his suggestions he gave me, I didn't have a minute to respond as to whether they would be applicable. It was like "I am all knowing" that being Dr. Schecter and not a sense of working WITH me. What split me up is that he has a video on YouTube about all the things you should look for in a doctor and if they don't do those things, find another doctor and i, given how he was in my appointment and how He acted in our appointment, I definitely should find another doctor!! It was a disappointment and I will never step foot in that office again… no matter how skilled he is. His staff is very nice and he could learn something from them on how to treat people

Upon moving back to the LA area after moving to San Francisco for two years , it was such a great feeling coming back to Dr. Schecter for my medical needs! I look forward to his guidance and expertise and so happy to be back in his care.

My husband and I have been Dr. Schechter's patients for over five years. Throughout this time he and his staff have always been responsive to our requests for attention. He has a vast knowledge base and throughout these years his assessment of our problems have consistently been correct. We have also appreciated his detailed explanations and interest on discussing our conditions and readiness with referrals to specialists. His recent messages about Covid-19, have been extremely useful (reassuring, calming) by providing vetted medical information, practical recommendations on good everyday practices in these conditions, and how to proceed should we need attention. We have also appreciated his fast response for telemedical consultations.

Dr Schuchter is the nicest and most competent doctor. He truly cares about his patients. I highly recommend him.

Dr Schecter is not like other doctors in that he is a positive, yet realistic man. I've seen him for years and I've learned so much about TMS and how to handle my anxiety in relationship to health. Recently, his letters about the COVID 19 are not dramatic like you see on the news (which I don't watch anymore). "Just the facts ma'am." and always puts the positive findings in the articles as well. He is always available to answer questions and concerns. We are lucky to have a doc like this in LA. Not every doctor knows about TMS! Blessings.

Dr.S has proved during the Corona disaster how caring and sympathetic a doctor he is.He is clearly well equipped to deal with the crisis and his weekly reports to patients are inciteful, well meaning and helpfull . He obviously puts a lot of time and effort into this and it’s much appreciated
