Dr. David Quan-You Shih, MD

Dr. Shih is simply the best. He is calm, never yells, patient and helped me. The best attribute is his bedside manner which is exceptional and puts me at ease. Several other GI doctors turn me away and dismissed my abdominal pain, claiming its IBS. He did thorough work up and found out that I actually has carcinoid. I am grateful to him and he is the one to see if you need the best man.

I was admitted to the hospital and fortunately have Dr. Shih as my physician. He sees me promptly in ER and guided me through the admission process which can be quite an anxious experience. He is extremely caring and would ask his fellow for follow-up. He arranges for appropriately speciality consults when my primary internist did not do so. He is very thorough, caring, compassionate, patient. He sees me even without his fellow because he cares. My current GI is like a robot, only quote number and average bedside manner. Dr. Shih is caring, compassionate, not time watcher, and even though he is senior doctor and a specialist, he sees me more than training doctor with Dr. Shih or my internist. I wish all doctors were like him.

Dr. Shih is great. He volunteers at Tzu Chi and sees me for much less cost than at Cedars for regular clinic visit. He is an exceptional doctor and always looks out for me. I do my f/u at Tzu Chi for less cost. However, when there is procedures that needs to be done, still needs to be done at Cedars. He has the best technical skill for surgery/procedures of all the doctors I have seen. I do not feel pain at all and no other side effects. He has a calming voice, very zen like. He accurately diagnosed me and treated me. After many years of suffering, Dr. Shih cured me.

I am writing to express my appreciation for the amazing level of care that Dr. Shih provided me. I had previous procedures, but never before have I experienced such ease with Dr. Shih. I was very impressed with Dr. Shih's professional yet personable demeanor. He spoke with me and conveyed such confidence that I was able to relax and trust him completely. I also appreciate him coming into the hospital room promptly afterwards and explain findings with sensitivity. I think he is one of the finest most highly skilled doctors I have ever had the privilege to encounter. Highly recommend.

He is a great doctor, great bedside manner, patient, intelligent, helped me where other doctor could not, uses up to date approach to treat my Crohn's disease and use combination therapy to get me better. The only complaint is the wait but he is worth the wait.

I have seen many doctors at Cedars-Sinai and all the doctors are great doctors. However, Dr. Shih is exceptional and cream of the crop. Dr. Shih is caring and sincere. He cares about you and returns phone calls himself. Other doctors have nurses or training doctors to call me but Dr. Shih calls patient himself. When I am admitted to the hospital, he come to see me and explains my condition. I am so appreciative of him. I haven't had another doctor how cares as much as him.

Dr. Shih is very caring . Its hard to get to his clinic so I waited to see him. Once I had a clinic visit with him, he spent all the time I needed to listen. He followed up with my lab tests and procedures and explained to me and answered all of my questions without sounding frustrated. It just takes me a bit longer to understand and I also have a lot of questions as my current doctors don't really explain anything just telling me that he will refer me to Cedars and they will take care of me. If you have bad doctor or have a difficult disease, go see Dr. Shih

Dr. Shih is ,what every doctor should be. He listens to your every word, he truly cares about you, always kind, always there never rushes to do uneccessary testing, explains, everything so you can understand your illness, and gives options and correct medical care. He goes above and beyond call of duty. When I am admitted to the hospital, he comes to see me even when he is not on-call. He is my advocate and I completely trust him. He is the best!

I started seeing Dr. Shih this year and he has become one of my favorite doctors that I've seen. He is kind, doesn't rush me, listens to my concerns, and is systematic in his diagnoses. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy with him and it was the best experience that I have had, I didn't even know that he did the procedure. There were no pain or discomfort even after the procedure. The only down side is that some of the staff at the IBD center appeared to be stressed and not as friendly as Dr. Shih. Also, Dr. Shih's clinic is also busy and he may not be able to see you timely. However, he is worth the wait if you can wait for him. Additionally, he treated me for a GI issue that other doctor were not able to help me. Dr. Shih is a super star.

I saw Dr. Shih after switching from another doctor in his practice who treats me like a lab rat. Unlike the other doctors at Cedars, Dr. Shih is a great doctor who takes a great deal of time with his patients. He is very sincere and genuine. He doesn't force me to do research and treats me with respect even if I don't enroll in clinical trials like the other doctors in his practice. Dr. Shih cares for my well-being first and foremost. I feel comfortable with him and he has the wonderful bed-side manner for someone who is really smart.
