Dr. David Matthew Sibell, MD

I did not have a pleasant experience with Dr. Sibell. He was rude and kept interrupting me when I tried to speak. I didn't feel that he made an effort to listen or understand my pain. Would not recommend this doctor at all.

He was rude to the student, tried demeaning her in front of me. He told me “less talking and more pointing” when I was asked to show my pain pathway. He handed me a box of tissue when I wasn’t crying nor even tearing up and said that he has to deal with failed expectations all the time. If he is what the medical field is teaching is adequate care, then we are in big trouble. His pre-judging prior to evaluating a patient is dangerous!

This RN, MS was impressed! After 30 years of Neuropathic pain and being quite disappointed in pain management programs and therapeutic events including a Spinal Cord Stimulator placed in the wrong location, I was referred to Dr. Sibell. He had reviewed my records, recalled salient points others didn't or dismissed as non-contributory, suggested further therapies and discussed treatments that may become available as a future hope. I would recommend Dr. Sibell as a trustworthy advocate for individualized care. Not just someone who uses terms because they sound officious!

More than 2 1/2 years passed since the procedure during which Dr. Sibell injured not only my neck nerve, but also the peripheral nerves in my scull. To this day, I cannot put my head on the pillow, lean on the head rest in the car, wear my ski or bike helmet without pain. When, following the procedure, my pain became so unbearable, I had to scream sometimes, Dr. Sibell said:" I guess I just injured the nerve, and wit the peripheral nerves. I am sorry. I WAS EXPERIMENTING" !! I never gave permission to any experiments on me. I wish my pain would go away, but It was diagnosed by an OHSU neurosurgeon as PERMANENT INJURY. I hope it never happens to you.

Plus Wears clean clothes Has a medical degree Seems to know his field Has opinions Minus Arrogant Does not have time for, nor want to listen to listen the patient Crams his opinion down your throat, Pretends to be nice. I have seen worse doctors, almost always OHSU neurologists. Dr Sibel makes a decision, and tells you what you think, and will not tolerate your asking why. My procedure was by a resident - after Sibel said he would perform it himself. There were additional issues as well. he compromised the procedure over one issue.

Doesn't do procedures, doesn't prescribe any RXs, doesn't seem to try anything other than ignore you and refer you to other therapies that insurance doesn't cover.

I have been to other doctors at OHSU, some bad some good but Sibel is without a doubt the worst doctor I have ever seen there. He talks to you like your an idiot, and is rude with just about every response. The other thing I didn't like is he acted as though I was lying to him about my situation, and cared very little to hear what I was going through, or any suggestion I put forth. I plan on filing a complaint against him, and can't believe OHSU would allow this snobby and unprofessional behavior from one of their doctors.

waste of time, did not listen, was more interested in making money in giving out pills that made him money. what a joke , this will be the last time i go to oshu.
