Dr.David N Smith... They broke the mold when Dr Smith was born. There's high quality care, and then there's Dr Smith care. He cared deeply for all his patients, if they allowed it. I've only met one other doctor with such quality of real care. Dr Smith teared up when informing me that I had MS. That was back in '94. I teared up learning of Dr Smiths passing. Not because I lost a high quality doctor, but because I lost what I considered a friend.

Dr David N Smith is the most accomplished physician that I've ever been treated by. He is a brilliant neurologist who cares and understands what his patients are experiencing and he also spends as much time as required to complete his assessment of his patients on any particular office visit. At the end of my visits I was always completely satisfied with the treatment he administered on that particular office visit. I've "never" left his office wondering what I needed to do next. His thoroughness was always clear, concise and comforting. I never had to guess what he meant or what I had to do next. At times the waiting to be seen by him was a bit longer than one would want, however, he "always" gave his patients the amount of time necessary to complete his evaluations on any given day. I trusted him for years with my health and well being. I had met and befriended many of his patients and "comparing notes" with one another, we've never shared any negative experience's about his care.… So, Dr Smith is the right doctor to see, if you're having a tough time with a neurological disorder. In my personal view Dr David N Smith is the very best neurologist in Rochester, NY. Joe Marotta

seems to be very easily distracted when he did get to see me, was not sure after a 2 hour wait as well!

I had migraines 25 days a month. My body would tingle and every joint hurt. I had trouble walking. I had glaucoma and hbp that suddenly came on. NO one could figure it out until I went to Dr. Smith. I had seen 2 other neurologist before him and many other specialists. Dr Smith was methodical in his approach all while treating me with the upmost compassion. He identified the issues, there were more than 1. The first day after I started requip, my migraines STOPPED! He diagnosed me with PLMS. Apparently I never slept! I also had sleep apnea that was found when he had me have a sleep study. My body began healing. He was peeling the layers of my issues away. Dr smith gave me my life back and he gave my young children their mother back. They didn’t really have me for SEVEN years. He will remain one of the most important people of my life even though I no longer need to be seen.

I miss him so much there's no other doctor like him

I’ve been going to Dr.Smith for years. He is a brilliant, caring, smart and witty doctor, who truly cares about each of his patients. He surely is missed in Rochester NY, as there is just no other Neurologists that meet his high standards in this area anymore. His patients in Colorado are the lucky ones to have such a wonderful doctor.

I saw Dr. David N. Smith for years & he was the most compassionate doctor I have ever seen! You may have sat for hours to see him but when he saw you it was like you were his only patient. I wanted to contact him for a second opinion but just found out his practice is permanently closed. I'm shocked & heart broken! He was one of a kind. Someone I truly trusted. Take Care Sir! I was originally diagnosed with pitcher’s shoulder when I lost feeling and use of my right arm. A few years later I had obscured vision in my right eye. A great ophthalmologist diagnosed optic neuritis, put me on steroids and sent me to Dr. Smith. He sent me for an MRI. After reviewing the results and identifying multiple lesions, he compassionately explained my MS diagnosis. He recommended an efficacious regime of treatment and continued to monitor my progress. Since then my MS has almost had little to no progression. At times I have had to wait to see him. But understanding he is always willing to spend extra time with you when needed, compassion and the results make it so worth it.

Dr. Smith is not a headache specialist. He had his practice under supervision a few years back. I saw him in the early 2000s for about 4 years. He was sure he could cure my migraines, but I am now addicted to Lyrica. He doesn't take insurance an that should be a red flag.

My daughter is the patient and has not completed her treatment yet. Therefore, I cannot honestly answer the survey question regarding follow-up at this time. I will update this review upon completion.
