Dr. David Alessi Smolev, MD

This doctor missed a diagnosis of hashimotos probably because I was a young underweight male. He decided instead that I have mental health issues. For three months I actually thought he was right. Thankfully another doctor checked my thyroid and gave me thyroid medication. Severe fatigue, anxiety, panic attacks, digestive issues gone in two months. Looking back I think this doctor has a very negative reaction to patients with anxiety and is confident anxiety is 100% psychological. I'm my case it was 100% biological. Hopefully he reads some books and gets more interested in being a doctor. Choosing to be a doctor was a bad fit for his personality, but people can always change.

I was transported from Pueblo to Springs for stroke symptoms. This doctor had made up his mind about me before even walking into the room and basically told me I needed to see psych and that my issues had nothing to do neurologically. I have seen my neurologist for 5 years due to hemiplegic migraines which is a rare neurological conduction. Horrible bedside manner. Rude!

Dr. Smolev is an excellent primary care doc. He takes the time to listen and provide a thorough explanation of the health concern at hand. He offers the treatment recommendation clearly and answers any questions. For me, he helped me taper off a couple of drugs I no longer needed. One was a sleeping pill. I feel much better and have more energy since. For my husband, who has had a number of health concerns, Dr. Smolev has been great at managing the medications and explaining the diagnoses and recommended therapies for each. He remembers and asks about the different conditions at subsequent visits His ability to remember and ask about past treatments in subsequent meetings is heartening.

Had just moved to Colorado Springs and was looking for a new GP. Told them all medications my past GP had me on for 10 years with perfect results and he said he wanted to switch my medication to something he thought was better suited to my condition . The medicine he gave me made my condition much worse than it has ever been . On study of this doctor I found out he went to medical school in the Dominican republic to a medical school owned by DeVry technical school ! Beware this doctor does not know what he's doing.

Uncomfortable. Smolev's mind and diagnosis was made before examining patient. Very poor bedside manner. Very toxic energy. Attitude says, your health is your fault. Very superior attitude. Would not recommend under any circumstances.

He's nice and charming, but he prescribed a psychotropic that is used to treat bipolar disorder med as a diet drug knowing full well I am Bipolar and had been stable for 6 years. Three weeks later, no longer stable even though quit taking the "diet" drug two weeks ago. Neurological effects taken place. its very difficult

I was recommended Dr. Smolev by another doctor, but was nervous to see him after reading a few negative reviews. But my experience was extremely positive! He was friendly, funny, thorough, and spent time answering all of my questions. Overall, he probably was with me for about 30 minutes, making sure that I fully understood my diagnosis, and how to deal with it. I didn't rate the "Follows Up After Visit", since I just saw him earlier today, and there is no need for a follow up anyway. Maybe other reviewers caught him on a bad day or something... but either way, I highly recommend him!

Left my appointment in tears. Incredibly rude. Belittled me. Refused to give me medicine I have taken for YEARS because he didn't take the time to understand me.

Horrible bed side manner. Inaccurate diagnosis. Extremely rude.
