Dr. David Dale Sova, DO

Dr. Sova gave me 18 extra years with my husband. When we first came to him, my husband was so sick. Dr. Sova said, I don't know what is wrong right now, but we are going to figure it out. It was ESRD. He remains our PCP and has solved so many of our other issues, happily recommending an OTC remedy when one is available. Dr. Sova is always learning to help his patients. I have used the Laser Tx for 3 different issues with great results. The medical massage therapy gave me so much pain relieve that I was a new person. I take comfort in knowing he has mental health services available as I grieve my husband who died of COVID. His staff is a wonderful, kind, core group that try hard to meet your requests. It is a small practice but a personal one. In our appointments, we would trade stories or a laugh with Anna making sure he stayed on schedule. I have and will always recommend him to my friends and family.

I get the best care at Dr. Sova's office. I always feel like he listens to me and he is great at explaining things. He has wonderful office staff too, I feel like they are family.

I have been going to Dr. Sova's office for 7 years and I just love it. I get Excellent care and I love the options I have to manage my pain. I am now off of pain meds and doing great. Him and his staff are wonderful!

I have known Dr. David Sova since we were teenagers. When I found out he was my finance's (now my wife of 25+ years) doctor, I also became a patient. He is one that has always listened and got right down to the root of any problem, minor or major, and figured out the best course of action. It's a long drive to see him, but worth it for me! Highly recommended!

Dr. Sova seemed awesome at the start until one of my visits required a test I get every year but NEVER have to pay for, and he told me if I get a bill for the test to send it to him and his office would take care of it. I got a bill in the mail and sent it to his office asking for them to take care of it because this is what he told me to do. My email to his office manager was very direct, as his staff has always been awful from the start at anything they handled for me and I wanted my situation taken care of immediately since the bill was due within 5 days of me receiving it in the mail. Before contacting me to discuss what would need to be done to take care of the bill, I get an email from his Office manager stating that my email threatened/insulted the Dr. and notified me that I have been discharged from the practice. No formal letter was sent to me in the mail notifying me that I was being discharged, and did not get a response from the next email I sent asking him to reconsider… or speak with me directly to clear the air, because I didnt mean anything disrespectful by my initial email. I still had to end up paying a portion of the bill for the test I had to take, and now I have to spend a ton of time/energy/money finding a new Dr. because of his misinterpretation of my initial email to his office. Countless hours were spent by myself having to call the Lab to see why I was being charged for the test/calling my health insurance company ask why as well. Spoke with 3 managers at the lab and they all told me there was nothing they could do and I owed the full amount shown on the bill. The rep that works directly with the Dr. from the lab called me directly and said that I still owed a portion of the bill, because it was the portion that the Lab is charged for the test...leads me to believe the portion of the bill that I did not pay would go straight to the Dr. and seems very shady from my point of view. Will never recommend anyone to step foot in this office

He is awesome! Very respectful to our family and is easy to talk to. We love him!

Absolutely the best doctor in Grand Rapids, his staff is also very kind and courteous. Very helpful and easy to work with.

Only reason I still go to Dr.Sova is because of his Nurse Anna..She is the most valuable asset he has. She should find better doctor who will appreciate her. .

I think Dr. Sova is a great physician. With that said, the downside is his office staff. They are probably the worst I've ever experienced. Not only are they rude, but totally clueless as well! I have fought with them on several occasions when I needed medication refills. They never contact you with lab results. When medication refills are dependent upon lab results, it's important to pass the results along. The other problem that I have is that Dr. Sova is not classified as a PCP with my insurance company. He is classified as a specialist because he is also in pain management, This results in a significantly higher copay. If you plan to see Dr. Sova as a PCP, you may want to check with your insurance company first to see how he is classified.
