Dr. David James Spiteri, MD

I was referred to Dr. Spiteri to assess a suspected nerve issue in my lower back and right leg and hip. My back and hip pain had been progressively increasing over the previous 6 to 12 months. During my initial visit with Dr. Spiteri, he was able to provide a diagnosis of the conditions that could be creating my pain and prescribed treatment that provided immediate relief. Dr. Spiteri intently listened to my symptoms, took time to explain his diagnosis and used some 3D musculoskeletal models as visual aides to help ensure I understood the conditions and diagnosis. Great initial visit.

I was recently referred to Dr. Spiteri by my PCP and I couldn't be happier! He was very attentive and explained in detail everything that he did during the physical exam. He also answered my questions thoroughly. I did not feel rushed during the my appointment and he had wonderful bedside manner. I appreciated that the initial questions were done over the phone while in the office to limit the amount of face-to-face interaction. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a compassionate Dr.

I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS! I will never, EVER see this doctor again. I should have walked out of the office at the first red flag. Due to COVID, they get the history portion of your visit done over the phone, okay. He asked me to read the results of my MRI done in 2018 to him. He immediately told me the MRI results mean absolutely nothing and have nothing to do with any of my pain. He has never seen me before. Not asked me anything about my pain. Didn't even do a physical exam yet and he was already dismissing me. He came into the room and continued his rant about how "anyone off the street would have the same MRI results" and that it meant nothing. He continued to tell me all of my pain was from being previously overweight (6 years ago) and that I needed to be on an antidepressant instead of any kind of help with pain. He talked over me and dismissed concerns. I was previously seen by one of the top neurosurgeons in the midwest, I guess I will be making the drive back there.

I was evaluated by this physician during Covid 19 for my back pain. His office was very organized and provided a safe environment for my visit. He used a hybrid model of telemedicine to get my history via phone/video connection to avoid any potential prolonged exposure to me and then came into the room to examine me and provide a treatment plan. He explained my problem in terms that I could understand. He spent a good amount of time with me creating a treatment plan which has been very helpful thus far. Not sure why there are negative reviews—-I had an excellent experience. I highly recommend him!

I too found him to be very abrupt and condescending. I am a grown man and he never let me finish a complete sentence during my appointment. He couldn't be bothered to perform a physical examination or to order imaging, even after I requested he do so. No bedside manner at all, arrogant, rude and treats patients like there cattle. Don't waste your time or money getting milked by this guy!!!

Dr. Spiteri was cordial and answered any questions I asked. Treatment was prescribed and the cortisone shot was handled without pain. All doctor's visits should be as mine was---professional and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to someone.
