Dr. David Michael Straughan, MD

Dr. David Straughan is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who uses his skills to perform both cosmetic and reconstruction surgeries. He is fellowship-trained in craniofacial reconstruction and facial aesthetics.
What is your patient care philosophy?My goal is to treat every patient with the respect that they deserve. Whether I am meeting a patient on their worst day or discussing cosmetic surgery, I want them to know that we are on a journey together as a team.
Why did you decide to become a physician?I chose plastic and reconstructive surgery as it seemed like a perfect avenue to help people with a variety of needs. In my specialty, I have the opportunity to meet the surgery needs of patients from the top of their heads to the bottom of their feet. I find genuine excitement in my work whether it is helping a woman achieve her breast reconstruction goals or helping to improve one’s self-confidence with cosmetic surgery.
What do you enjoy most about working with patients?I …love hearing about a patient’s journey. I learn so much from my patients, and I could not envision a more rewarding experience than working with them.
Would you like to share about your family?My wife Michelle and I have two young girls whom we love spending time with, and we can’t wait to watch them grow up in a great community like Lakeland. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people in this fantastic community.
