Dr. David W Strausser

Dr. Strausser is an excellent spine surgeon. I can not thank him enough for the relief he has given me. His bedside manner was superb. I would highly recommend him to anyone. —5 stars.

HE IS THE BEST FOR BACK PROBLEMS

Bad bedside manner

My wife had 2 synodical cysts removed from her spine and a fusion of her L3 through L5 vertebrae and Dr. Strausser performed the surgery and is still following up with her on her recovery. I read several reviews from people that thought he was distant and had no bed side manner. I would really like to know what planet these people are from. We experienced nothing but the opposite. He was very patient and answered all of our questions thoroughly and completely. His skill as a surgeon in my opinion is beyond reproach. Her incision is completely healed and will not leave any scar. This after less than 7 weeks removed from surgery. If you have back issues and need major surgery then you have found your surgeon.

Dr Strausser has no bedside manner. Ordered tests but wouldn't follow thru with the orders so test couldn't get done.

Succinct and to the point does not waste time

This is a very egotistical Dr, he didn't make eye contact with me during the whole visit. My mother was in the room with me and had to introduce herself since he ignored her. He played with his long hair the whole time and did an extremely minimal exam. He proceeded to tell me that I was too heavy for him to operate on and would have to lose weight, I understand that I weight 300 pounds but with severe back pain how am I supposed to work out. I have other health problems but this was ridiculous.

Went to see Dr. Strausser for back pain, both lower and upper back. When he finally walked into the room he immediately had an air of condescension which was confirmed within the first minute of the interview when he told me the upper back pain was irrelevant. I proceeded to tell him about the lower back pain with burning sensation in my legs and he told me if I would lose weight the back pain would go away. WHAT??? I informed him I farm and am constantly busy and his reply was, "I am not a dietitian. I am the back guy." The visit went downhill from there. By the end of the visit I wanted to punch him I was so angry with him. He did not listen to me, was overly rude and thoroughly condescending. I do not know how he is as far as a surgeon but I would not let him cut on my back. Patient support and empathy is very important in medicine and this man (can't say doctor) exhibited neither.

Dr. Strausser is by far the worst doctor I have ever met! Arrogant, condescending and completely unconcerned with anything coming out of the patient's mouth. First, EVERY SINGLE time I've called, either no one answers nor returns voice messages or the person answering is clueless. It took one month to resolve one prescription call in to the pharmacy because of this. I had to drive to the office in an attempt to resolve. Even then, although the office was open, no one ever came to the desk or replied to my yelling through the window for assistance. I went to see him for pain resulting from a lumbar herniated disc that I had been suffering from for a number of years. It took me a while to agree to steroid injections, and finally when I did I consulted this guy. I had two steroid injections, two weeks in a row. I'm a usually 100% healthy person outside of the disc pain, and immediately began experiencing very concerning side effects that were not outlined prior. I was even hospitalized! I… followed up with him immediately after release, and I may as well have been talking to a brick wall. I described all of the symptoms, including a swollen hump in my upper back, frequent urination and severe chest pain...his reply was, "but how is the pain in your back? We got rid of that right?" He didn't one time even get out of his seat to examine me! I was in disbelief the entire visit, waiting for someone to jump out of the closet screaming, "You've been PUNKED!" at the level of his arrogance and indifference to me as his patient. Followed up sign my primary care doctor and turns out I've developed Cushings Syndrome as a result of the steroid injection! I wish I had read these reviews sooner.

Dr. Strausser is an excellent spine surgeon. He has saved my husband from paralysis twice. Once in 2012 when WC would only pay for a partial procedure that would not fix him, Dr. Strausser prevented bone spurs from severing a hot nerve. He just operated on my husband again less than a week ago. A 4 level laminectomy in which he noticed that the nerves wrapped around the bones along his spine like spaghetti, and had to straighten out that mess. If it weren't for Strausser's expertise, my husband would be paralyzed today. 30 minutes after this extensive operation, he was walking around. This is the most relief he has felt in 4 years, and he hasn't even fully recovered yet. We went to the movies with a lumbar pillow the day after he was discharged, and so far so good. There are a number of reviews criticizing Dr. Strausser 's bedside manners, but we noticed that he is a lot more personable this time. He is a straight shooter, won't tell you what you want to hear, but will tell you facts,… and what to expect. We are not sensitive people, we don't need anyone to hold our hands, we just want s competent Doctor that will fix the injury and that is exactly what we got from Dr. Strausser.
