Dr. Tainter graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. During his senior year, he won a national engineering design competition and was a finalist in a second competition. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, a joint medical school between Duke University and the National University of Singapore.

Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Tainter completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center. There, he developed a smart treatment program for osteoporotic patients with fractures. Dr. Tainter then pursued a trauma fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Virginia. During his fellowship, he gained valuable experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of complex orthopaedic injuries.

He and his wife, Kim, have one child. They have relocated to Delaware to allow Dr. Tainter to work at Christiana Hospital, a terrific Level 1 trauma center, and for …Kim to work at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Tainter did my hip surgery, and just had first post op visit. All very pleasant and professional. Healing seems to be going well. And all these views corroborated by a friend who I just learned, also had and loved him.

Dr. Tainter is a very caring and wonderful Doctor, we didn’t pick him because my grandson had to have emergency surgery. But I would pick him if we ever need something done. The office always calls me right back and gets me in fast. They are very kind to my special needs grandson.

Dr. Tainter was great! I didn’t have to wait very long in the waiting room. I was able to fill out the new patient forms on the car ride, which there wasn’t too much of, either. He asked a few questions and then actually let me talk and voice my concerns and we actually had a conversation, which was really awesome and refreshing. He was compassionate and honest and genuinely helpful and I will recommend him to people I know if I ever have the opportunity. Thank you, Doctor!

Dr. Tainter was assigned my surgeon at Christiana Hospital Trauma Center for a 3-part ankle fracture. I was relying upon my assigned surgeon for skillful repair to quickly be on recovery path toward learning to walk again. Dr. Tainter exhibited surgical skill in repairing a major fracture, good communication skills and caring bedside manner. Accompanying anesthesiologist, hospital/DOS staff and tech Mark (making sure my one-time ride share was ok) were attentive and courteous. I felt I received excellent care. Although scars were not a concern of mine considering the trauma I was in, I'm happy with my scars (visiting nurse was impressed with my minor scar on one side of ankle and no visible scar on the other side). Dr. Tainter was assigned to me, and I am very pleased he was and thankful for his skillful surgical care. He had my confidence.
