Dr. David Elmer Thomas, MD

I have a special needs child. We have a long list of doctors and he by far the best. We hardly have time to sit down in the waiting room before they are calling us to go in. He spends more time than is necessary making sure he follows up on everything and that we have everything we need for him. This doctor truly cares about the well being of his patients.

Dr. Thomas and his clinic, Children's Respiratory and Sleep Center, is the least professional medical outfit I've encountered. Impossible to get an appointment, and then once you've scheduled one (three months in advance, I may add), they will cancel it at the last moment. This has happened to me THREE times. They are completely oblivious to the problems it causes (my child is sick, and I can't get the care he needs!). Oh, and when they cancel that appointment, expect to be rescheduled no less than three months away.

This is a call for Doctor David Thomas to please stop practicing medicine. I feel for the man that lost his child as the result of this "professional". I was able to get my child other care in time. If you are reading a positive review of this doctor it is written by him or one of his staff, not by a parent of one of his patients.

Thankfully, Dr. David E. Thomas has gotten some other physicians to help in his practice. The wait used to be really bad when it was just him and his PA (Physician's Assistant). Now I think there are two other physicians working with him. He's really nice with the patients, and asks them questions on how they are feeling/doing (even though my daughter's only 5). Of course we as parents provide answers too :)

Dr. David Thomas, You would think a man with that much schooling would be more knowledgable in his field. The prior reviews were spot on and this man has no business being a pediatric pulmonologist. He will not listen or react to questions from parents or care givers. The very people that provided 99.9 % of the care for that person. Watching his bedside manner during extended stays with a sick child really makes a parent wonder why is this person practicing medicine. So many nearly costly mistakes, simple mistakes that a RN should catch. This will not be the end of my quest to see this incompetent man lose his license to practice medicine and save our children. Please before you visit this doctor ask yourself what's at stake. Take the ride a little further and save your childs life. Dr. Thomas if your reading this, quit now before you hurt another child or family.

DR. David Elmer Thomas is a very self centered individual that has little time to offer to his patients. This ends up being very detrimental to patient care. Due to his neglect and lack of wisdom on certain pulmonary disease processes my child died at OLOL Hospital while under his care. If he would have only listened to what my wife and I had said about our child's symptoms he would still be alive. Yes we have won a substantial malpractice suit brought up against him but that in no way will bring my child back. My son died and David Thomas did not even say he was sorry. As a matter of fact he office called our house to cancel an appointment with him due to illness 6 weeks after my son died. Travel the distance and take your child to proper and prudent healthcare even if it means traveling to New Orleans.

Dr. Thomas is overwhelmed with patients since he is the only Pediatric Pulmonologist in Baton Rouge. If you want to get off of oxygen before your child is a year old, or just want to spend time with a proactive doctor go to Tulane and visit any of the pediatric pulmonologists there. I recommend Dr. Davis.
