Dr. David James Vandelindt, MD

Dr. VDL was helpful to me regarding telling me of procedural psychiatry options (ECT, & such). He set me at ease re. the monetary cost of treatments. Eventually, however, once treatments were underway, he became very one-dimensional, so to speak. He was repetitive, not a good listener, & didn't seem to really come across as caring if I got as well as I could have (hard to explain). He used what he thought passed for humor to impress me as a doctor who was familiar with me & cared for me, but this tactic of his came out as shallow & cold.

At first I did like Dr. Van de Lindt, I am having ECT treatments on a maintance program and the longer they go on, the less time he or concern he seems to have for me as a patient. His attitude is getting to be condesending and uncaring. If I could handle living without ECT, I would no longer see this DR.

Excellent physician, caring and compassionate, but takes a no nonesense approach. I appreciate his professionalism and willingness to think outside the box when needed

I still can't remember years of my life, including my honeymoon. I have to spell check the basic words you take in grade school and I had college level spelling. I told him it was making me more depressed, so he increased it more and more. I've never been the same. He gave me migraines so bad I thought my head was going to explode. They too never went away along with new symptoms. Then his nurse would call to tell me he didn't like his beds empty so I needed to come in. Nice!

I was seeing him for the first time for an eval for poss.future procedures. His manner immediately made me feel confidence in him and his ability to help me make decisions to deal with my illness. His understanding of my condition and gathering of information needed to rule out options offered to me and how he handled telling me that options I'd hoped for were not available. I was very impressed with him.
