Dr. David Calkins Weisman, MD

Please do not take your loved one here. While the office staff was friendly enough, Dr. Weisman lacks any sort of bedside manner, care or kindness. While I am sure he is very skilled in his field, his demeaning tone and attitude leave the patients and families feeling as if they are completely incompetent. And you are not allowed to hold any sort of opinion contrary to his (ie: covid vaccine). I am sure for many families and patients who go to see him, they are receiving a new diagnoses and it can be overwhelming as you learn to adjust and how to take care of your loved one. A doctor who offers compassion and educational resources would be much more appreciated.

My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s by Dr. Weisman about four years ago. After we were rudely spoken to in a loud voice, I decided it was time to get a second opinion. After numerous visits and diagnostic testing, it was apparent that my husband did NOT have Alzheimer’s but a vascular problem. I guess I should thank Dr. Weisman for being rude and having no bed side manners.

They originally called me to reschedule my appointment, then rescheduled me for 4pm a few weeks later. The day of the appointment I could not find the entrance as the building had no sign with the practice name. After calling they told me to circle back to the other entrance, finally come in & follow the sign to check in only to be told I have to back out to check in at another suite for this doctor. (When I go to that door the sign says clinical research?) I go to check in at 3:45 to be told I can't be seen because I'm late! I advised them the appointment was for 4pm so I'm early, they said no you need to come in 30 minutes early to be seen for your appointment. I explained all the inconveniences of rescheduling and no signs to indicate practice suite & it's our 1st visit and ask if they can make an exception as I was still early to which the office manager says the dr is not here he left at 3:30 since you weren't here in time.... so If i would have been 2 minutes late i still… wouldn't have been seen?! They give no "grace period or cushion" or any delay. They then ask if I brought the paper work, which they Never gave me! Horrible experience, bad first impression. Very disappointed!

While Dr. Weisman may not have the best bedside manor he is very good and what he does and that is what matters in the end. He was able to accurately diagnose what I was telling him were leg spasms but were in reality leg seizures. He ordered a brain MRI and it ended up showing a meningioma. The first neurologist I saw had no idea they were seizures.

Dr. Weisman diagnosed my husband 8 years ago. Every visit is focused not only on the progression of the disease but also the impact it has on me/care giving. He is dedicated to research that may someday ameliorate/cure the disease of Alzheimer. My husband welcomed the opportunity to participate and be a part of a solution instead of a victim of this rapacious disease.

I have many like minded Care Partners of loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer's and we are all in agreement that Dr. Weisman is very knowledgeable, clear communicator, patient, respectful, realistic and direct in answering all questions and understanding of the difficulties that come with this "territory"."

It's rare when you feel comfortable on your first visit with a doctor, but Dr. Weismann makes you feel comfortable and his knowledge is quickly recognizable. He doesn't. Hurry through the visit which is exceptional. He reduces his conversation to "layman's" terms and is shows extreme interest in his patient. I am hopeful that he will be my "last stop" to finding a solution to the issues I presented to him.

Abrupt, unfriendly, adversarial to those who disagree talks more than examines or tests

A great doctor! I have had a great experience with Dr. Weisman. He listens very well and doesnâ??t discount what Iâ??m saying. He asks great questions to clarify and then explains everything he is thinking and planning. Could not recommend him more.

A cold, unfeeling person, which is totally unacceptable since he is dealing with families in crisis. Came to a quick diagnosis of Alzheimers and offered little if any advice or tools to family on how to handle. Would not recommend him. Yes, he's smart - but that is not enough!
