Dr. David John Whaley, MD

The worst doctor I have ever seen, didn't listen, didn't care, looking at his Rolex the whole time-a real quack- he should have his license pulled!

I was addicted to an assortment of various medications, mostly self prescribed, after losing my younger brother to suicide. Long story short, this was a road to destruction, and I came very close to just that. After getting into some trouble with the law, I stopped everything cold turkey. 6 days later my wife rushed me into the hospital. I briefly remember seeing Dr. Whaley at this time. Only for a moment however as I had a seizure and woke up 3 days later in the ICU at Sanford.Dr. Whaley saw me at my absolute worst. He saw the lowest a man can get. Still, he stepped up and agreed to treat me once I had recovered and gone through treatment. I still see Dr. Whaley today. I can trust him in a way I can trust no other. As a young married man, father of 3 small children, with my whole life still in front of me I have a reluctance to see a physician or take any medication. Dr Whaley is acutely aware of this, and we speak openly about it each time we meet. Today I take only one… medication prescribed by Dr. Whaley. It is closely monitored and controlled by my wife. It's been 19 months since that fateful day, and every day is truly a blessing. Dr. Whaley most certainly is one in disguise. As I continue building bridges I tore down with my carelessness, Dr. Whaley has not judged me, and offers a genuine level of CARING you simply do not see anymore. In my experience you either have a doctor that simply writes a prescription and kicks you out, or berates you for needing a prescription and kicks you out. In many ways I owe my life to Dr. Whaley. Sure he's just doing his job, but I can't say that I would have agreed to see me at all after what he saw that first day!
