Dr. David Michael Debellis, MD

An exceptional physician, and one I trust enormously. What I appreciate most about him is his intelligence, honesty, and directness. He does not sugarcoat things, talk around an issue, or tell you what he thinks you want to hear. He gives you his genuine medical opinion, explains his reasoning, and treats you like an adult capable of hearing the truth. That is incredibly valuable to me. He is exceptionally sharp, perceptive, and clearly knows his field. I would much rather have a physician who is candid and intellectually rigorous than someone who simply tells me something comforting. His communication style may be more direct than some patients prefer, but personally, I find it refreshing. There is no performance, no unnecessary hand-holding, and no evasiveness — just thoughtful, straightforward medicine. I also appreciate that his directness never feels careless. Quite the opposite: I have always felt that he is paying attention, thinking critically, and being honest with me about… what he sees, what he knows, and what he does not know. That kind of transparency builds trust. Medicine is complicated, and being a patient can make you incredibly vulnerable. I want the person treating me to be smart enough to challenge assumptions, confident enough to be candid, and respectful enough not to patronize me. He is exactly that kind of doctor. I know his style may not be for everyone, but for me, he is outstanding. I have tremendous respect for him and am genuinely grateful to have him as part of my care.

10 minutes late & he refused to see me. I was 10 minutes late trying to find a parking spot. His receptionist said he is going to count me as a no show. Well, I called my insurance company right away on a recorders line & explained the situation . He wanted me to reschedule because I was late. He just lost my business!

I've been seeing Dr. Debellis for 10 years and the care has been excellent. I went from having zero medical needs to having high blood pressure and cholestoral as I aged and he has been excellent in diagnosis and treatment of these. He runs a lot of tests, but they are helpful in finding things like vitamin deficiencies, etc. Make sure your insurance covers them tho...

Yes at times you will have to wait for an appointment. This Doctor was my mother Doctor. He was the most caring doctor I ever met and I have been around the block with doctors. I think some think he is talking to them like grade school because he likes to put things in the most simplistic manner to make sure what he is saying is understood.

Dr. Debellis seems to have a bit of a Napoleon complex. He is demeaning and arrogant. While he seems to be comprehensive in testing and spends a good amount of time with his patients, he appears condescending. Unfortnately, less time is more if this is his bedside. Also, he writes consultation notes to providers you see. Caught a glimpse at what he wrote. He is sarcastic and rude. Find another doctor. You are more valuable than the way you are treated in this office.

Dr, DeBellis treats his patients as if they are in grade school. He requires you to bring your medicine bottles to your appointment. If you forget them he will not see you. This wastes a day of work and you leave without your renewal of prescriptions so you can't take your medication until you can make another appointment. Being 50 years old I can't imagine a doctor treating their patient this way.

Follows up well with insurance if there's an issue.

Dislike: difficulty of getting appt; rude communicator at times; obstinate about prescribing rather than discussing improving health from holistic standpointLike: can be thorough in testing, though make sure you require office to confirm that your insurance will cover the tests he recommends, otherwise good luck fighting w/insurance.
