Dr. Dawn M Bearden, OD

On my most recent visit to Dr Berden’s office I feel she acted very unprofessionally and outside of OSHA regulations and established principles of medical ethics. According to the OSHA regulation, a doctor may not require disclosure of my Social Security number to identify a patient when the patient’s insurance does not require that providing the insurance information that has been provided in advance. My understanding is that if a doctor truly needs the social security number, they will follow up and deal with that directly with the insurance company. Nevertheless, in order for Dr Berden to treat me she demanded, through her assistant, that I provide my full social security number when my insurance information had already been provided in advance of my office visit. Furthermore, it is my understanding that my health insurance carrier does not require it and in the absence of providing it to her assistant the doctor was going to decline to treat me and ask me to leave her office. My… experience with her is that Dr Berden clouds her judgment by her internal turbulent emotions based on what she “feels” that day or whether she likes the patient or not. She wanted to exhibit her power over me by denying me medical treatment, when I had already pre-paid for the visit and was waiting for her 40-minute late arrival.
