Dr. Dawn Marie Buzzell, MD

I had a very frustrating experience with Dr. Buzzell, who told me over and over again that my newly extremely painful, heavy, 2-week periods and new, sudden, accompanying cycle-related depression were "normal" and that there was nothing to be done other than put me on birth control, which I did not want to do because it can grow fibroids, which I'd needed surgery for the year before and which an ultrasound revealed I had again (Dr. Buzzell claimed this had nothing to do with my problems, despite the fact that my previous doctor had me undergo surgery because it had affected me so terribly). I pleaded with Dr. Buzzell to help me figure it out and offer other possible explanations, tests, etc., and she was adamant there was nothing to be done and kept telling me it was "normal". She even told me that diet and exercise would have no effect on me. I left Kaiser so that I could find a better doctor, and I did, right away. Dr. Buzzell's total lack of care or interest in helping me figure out… my issue and feel better allowed me to continue suffering for more than half a year while I was not able to switch to another doctor with Kaiser. She's probably fine if you have no issues and aren't worried about ever developing any, but I simply can not recommend her. It's terrible when a lazy, uninformed or uninterested doctor results in prolonged suffering and even bodily damage for patients who are coming to them for help.

Dr. Buzzell has been my ob/gyn for 4 years. She is caring and knowledgeable and has never rushed me in an appointment. I would highly recommend her to anyone. However, the front office receptionists - very young - leave much to be desired, as do a couple of the nurses.
