Dr. Dawn Renee Dawson, MD

Put my 9 year old on MAJOR medication. Instead of starting small and using coping skills she actually made her worse by the multiple of medications that didn't work well together. Her diagnosis was horrible and in submissable in court when I was getting a divorce because It was the same diagnosis. She almost ruined my little girls life!

My son and I went to Dr. Dawson for 10 years and she got us through major depression and anxiety. She was always there for us. Yes, she seems different with her armchair, blanket and munching in food, but it made us feel at ease. It his her approach to relax her patients. Yes, you do wait a long time and I haven't seen her since she quit doing insurance but she was always very conscientious about safety of prescription meds and dosages, tapering on and off and is very knowledgeable about research. Having a counselor and psychologist right there to confer with in cases is unique. I wait at least an hour on my family too.

On my first appointment, this "Doctor" made a very fast diagnosis literally within 20 minutes of my walking in the door (which was subsequentally way off the mark - thankfully I was re-diagnosed a few months later). She over prescribed meds and was insulted when I asked about why I was being prescribed certain medications that had horrendous side effects. I waited on one occasion for over two hours for her to show up at her office. I can only describe her medical practice and attitude as unprofessional, rude, and downright weird. She would make a great pathologist, as the only patients she should be allowed to treat are the ones that have passed on and are in need of an autopsy where she can do no more harm.

I saw Dr. Dawson when she was still in Colorado Springs. I think she's since moved. She sent me into a downward spiral that almost destroyed my life. This happened when she put me on a guilt trip (yelling at me, scolding me) for being depressed and having suicidal thoughts. I think she meant to encourage me to get better, but all it did was make me feel even worse. If you're struggling with severe depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts, she isn't the doctor for you. It took me way too long to figure this out. She treated me like a burden. When someone's in crisis and needing actual help from a doctor, it's a shame when they screw up.

NEVER, NEVER on time even if you are the first appt in the morning. She had my wife do two separate sleep studies which made no sense. A year later she has now acquired some sleep diagnosis rating. Seems like she used her patients and their insurance to earn a certification. She did help my wife with bi-polar however. I'm glad she is leaving the area so my wife is forced to go see someone else. I'm sure any other doctor can do just as well without the wait and constant no-shows.

Having worked, briefly, for Dr.Dawson, it is not that she is overworked or overbooked. On a whim she calls from her home in Pueblo West and has staff cancel her appointments saying she won't be in. This leaves staff with the unpleasant task of having to explain and re-book appointments. When she is in the office, she thinks nothing of keeping patients waiting. Often she is on a computer looking at Arabian horses. Needless to say, this wasn't a positive work environment.

Dr.Dawson is the first dr. that i have found who took the time to review my history, medications, etc. She has helped me more than anyone can possibly know! I haven't felt this good in 15 years.

Dr. Dawson is a very smart and caring person. She really gives it her all and puts her Heart into her job. She really does try and get down to business & make you feel welcomed into her practice. Her staff is very kind and everyone is just down to earth and helpful. I really like her & the staff.

professional first, excellent listner,one feels comfortable, have heard others speak very well of her, works hard, the kind of doctor who takes 150% interest in her profession, pleasant for anyone child or adult, very involved with her profession, the whole office works well together, very special lady with common sense to go along with her intellect, warmth is felt through office by surroundings of environment of design,

I have been seeing dr. Dawson for about 6 years now. She has always been late. I hate it! Now at 20 years old I understand why tardiness makes people P.Oed. When you make an appointment for a certain time there's a reason. Last time I went she was sick and the staff didn't tell me until 15 minutes before the appointment. It's a pain to drive from woodland park to Colorado springs. I'm going to see her tomorrow. If I have to wait more than 30 minutes, I'm leaving.
